We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Lyons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, what do you attribute your success to?
An important factor behind my success is confidence in my brand and product as well as what other parents are saying about my company. I work hard to perfect my brand and make sure that each communication, session, and post reflect that. I am constantly working to provide the best customer experience I can.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a photographer professionally for the last six years. I started getting into photography back in elementary school and have always had a camera in my hand. One of the things that sets me apart from others is I have both an AAS and BFA in photography. I have also been a part of several different art shows and exhibitions. One of the things that I am most proud of is that I was selected to be in the Through the Lens: DAD coffee table book that is sold throughout the Dallas Arts District and in each room in the Hall Arts Hotel. There were over 1,000 images entered and they only picked 90 of those to be in the book.. I am where I am today through perseverance and hard work. The road has not been easy. I have had my fair share of set backs and moments where I got really frustrated. I overcame the challenges that I faced through encouragement from others, not giving up, finding different solutions, and never forgetting the reason I do what I do. One of the lessons I have learned is that you will not please everyone. Instead of stressing out over the few people that either don’t like you or don’t like your work, focus on those that do and that appreciate the hard work that you put into your craft and realize your true value. My story and brand is not just about the final images. It is the full experience from the first conversation to the day of the shoot to the delivery of the final images. I create an experience that makes each client feel special and valued.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Royse City has its perks. I can take my friends either to Rockwall and enjoy places like Gloria’s or El Potrillo De La Sandia at the Rockwall Harbor and enjoy the sunset on the lake. I can also introduce them to the small town flare and take them either to The Well in downtown Royse City, B&F Diner, or Four Czechs Bakery. I can also take them to Matt’s Rancho Martinez which is also in Royse City. One of the things I love about where I live is that I can take 548 from 276 all the way to I-20 and view some beautiful countryside that is not far from the city. Being in the country also gives us the chance to let loose and have fun with fireworks during Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and New Years.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to say it isn’t just one person. I have had several people that have believed in me and continue to support me throughout my career. Between my family encouraging me to keep going even during tough times, and clients who have become friends referring their friends to my company, I have a lot to be thankful for. This year has been tough for a lot of artists and local small businesses. This shoutout goes to everyone who chose to support a small local business or artist during this tough time.
