We had the good fortune of connecting with Ty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ty, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My thought process was actually pretty simple.
I’ve spent most of my career launching some of the most incredible restaurant brands, dedicating countless hours to building experiences for other people to enjoy. Creativity has always been my strong suit, and whenever I was faced with a challenge, I found a way to turn it into something successful.

A big part of this comes from my upbringing. From a young age, I watched my mother pour love into the meals she made for us. I’ll never forget one night in particular when she made these hand-crafted chicken pot pies and carved the words “I LOVE YOU” into the crust of each one. For years afterward, whenever she asked what we wanted for dinner, my answer was always “the I love you things.” It wasn’t about the flavor—truthfully, they could’ve used more salt (sorry mom)—but it was about the love and intention she put into them.

That memory shaped the way I think about food and hospitality. To me, success comes from creating those kinds of moments for other people—the moments that stick with you long after the meal is over.

When the idea of starting another business came up, I asked myself: *How can I create that same feeling for others through my own brand? The journey hasn’t been easy, but I believe everything happens for a reason. Meeting my current partners felt like the missing piece, and after months of research, reflection, and more than a little soul-searching, I knew catering and events was the right direction. Their passion for this industry inspired me, and taking that leap has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. That’s why I started it — and that’s why I’ll never stop.

What should our readers know about your business?
Crave Catering and Events Dallas opened its doors in May 2025 with a simple goal: to bring Dallas something fresh, fun, and exciting. My partners have been in the industry for many years, and seeing their drive and heart at every event I attended with them made it an instant “yes” to start our own company—to create experiences for others to enjoy. We want people to be excited about hosting events. We want people to be excited about food. There’s nothing better than seeing the joy on someone’s face when they experience what we’ve created for them.

As owner-operators, we are hands-on from planning to clean-up. What excites me most about this industry is seeing our team show up happy and eager to work alongside us. Our staff is the heart of our company, and whether someone has had a hard day or a great day, our goal as owners is to keep energy high and spirits lifted.

I’ve had the opportunity to train in some of the top Michelin-star kitchens with incredible chefs, and I’ve also opened my own concepts as well as franchise brands and NOTHING compares to what Crave Catering & events had to offer.

I’ve always loved the hiring process because it’s more than offering someone a paycheck—it’s giving them a chance to grow.
Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. Every day brings new challenges, but those challenges are what make the experience truly memorable. The lessons I’ve learned throughout my career are simple: stay positive, lead others, keep your faith, and nothing can stop you from being your best. Always remember why and where you started, and everything will fall into place.

I moved to Texas in 2017, not knowing a single person, freshly married, and figuring out my career path. Eight years later, I’m beyond grateful for the blessings and opportunities that have come my way. My brand means the world to me. I will never allow anything to be done halfway. I believe that if you commit to something, commit 100%, because you never know what amazing things can come from it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were coming to town, I would, without a doubt, hire the Crave Catering and Events team to host an unforgettable evening at my home. I’d start with a full-course dinner menu carefully crafted by our chef, paired with a show-stopping, Crave-worthy cheese and charcuterie display to kick things off. Every detail would be thoughtfully planned, from a curated cocktail menu designed to complement each course to the elegant, professional service provided by our Crave staff, ensuring every my friend feels attended to and cared for. From start to finish, the evening would be seamless, fun, and indulgent—exactly the kind of experience we love to create for our clients and their guest.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt, my biggest shoutout goes to my family.
They’ve been the backbone of everything I’ve built. From day one, they believed in me — even when I didn’t fully believe in myself. Through every late night, every failed deal, every win, and every pivot, they’ve been there praying for me, encouraging me, and reminding me who I am when I forgot.

To my little brother Keshon—thank you for being one of my biggest sources of motivation. Thank you for always picking up my calls, for reminding me why I started, and for giving me the truth even when it wasn’t easy to hear. That honesty and support means more than I can put into words.
You’ve always been a competitor at heart, and I’ve admired that drive in you since we were kids. It took me a long time to realize that while I was looking up to you in so many ways, you were also looking up to me. Knowing that has given me a deeper reason to keep pushing forward—because if you see me doing it, I know you’ll push yourself even harder.
I’m so proud of the man you’re becoming, of the hard work you put in, and of the way you carry yourself. No matter where life takes us, I’ll always be your biggest fan—just like you’ve always been mine. Love you, bro

The next shout-out is easy—it goes to my sister, Kaneesha. Thank you for always showing me what it truly means to work hard and grind. You’ve always been the one to step up when I’ve needed it most—whether it was bartending, cooking, cleaning, or just asking, *“Where can I help?”* I’ve always known I could count on you to show up.
Thank you for being the ear I can vent to, for supporting me in ways big and small, and for reminding me I don’t have to carry everything on my own. I owe you more than I can ever repay, and I love you.

The next shout-out goes to two of the most important people in my life—my incredible mother, Momma T, and Papa Shawn.

Mom, I honestly don’t even know where to begin. From the time I was little, you’ve always spoken life into me. You would tell me, *“You are going places,”* and those words have never left me. They’ve carried me through some of the hardest days and reminded me of who I am and what I’m capable of. You’ve been our backbone, our support system, and the reason we’ve made it this far. I know it wasn’t always easy for you, but somehow you made it look effortless. There is no way I could ever repay you for the sacrifices you made and the love you gave.
And Papa Shawn—thank you. Thank you for coming into our lives and being exactly what we needed, exactly when we needed it. You’ve been such a steady presence, a guide, and a source of wisdom. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to have someone I can call, someone I can share ideas with, and someone who just understands.
I love you both with my whole heart. You are my foundation, my inspiration, and a huge part of the reason I’m standing where I am today.

Lastly, I want to give the biggest shout-out to my incredible husband, Matthew. Wow—just look how far we’ve come. Thinking about our journey brings tears to my eyes, because no matter what battles we’ve faced, we’ve faced them side by side—and every single time, we’ve conquered them together.
You’ve been my greatest support, my biggest believer, and the one who has shown me so many incredible things and places. By day, you’re a pharmacist, and by night you’ve been right there beside me—bartending, cooking, and even scrubbing toilets if that’s what needed to be done. That kind of love and dedication is something I will never take for granted.
Thank you for never allowing me to give up on myself. The way you work so hard every single day so that I can continue to grow will never go unnoticed. I love you with my whole heart, and I hope you always know just how deeply appreciated you are. I love you so, so much.
There were times where I wanted to quit. Times where the pressure felt too heavy. But knowing I had my family watching, supporting, and rooting for me gave me the strength to keep going. Their love kept me grounded. Their sacrifices motivated me. And their presence reminded me what I was doing all this for.

So while I may be the one running the business, closing the deals, and doing daily operations — just know none of this was built alone.
