Meet Trae Swift | Music Artist, Engineer and clothing designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trae Swift and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trae, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The Vision Behind My Business: Texas Made, Texas Raised
My journey into entrepreneurship began with a desire for independence and a passion to create something meaningful—something that reflects where I come from and what I stand for. “Texas Made, Texas Raised” isn’t just a brand; it’s a statement of pride, culture, and identity. I wanted to build something that people from my state could connect with, something that felt authentic and homegrown.
Being a young entrepreneur comes with its fair share of challenges, but I welcome them. I’ve always been driven by the thrill of figuring things out on my own and learning through the process. Every obstacle is an opportunity to grow, and every small win pushes me to keep going. This journey is just beginning, and I’m excited to see where it leads.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Turning Life Into Art: My Creative Journey
My art is a direct reflection of my life—shaped by both pain and joy. I like to describe it as an emotional roller coaster expressed through music. Some days, it’s a song filled with happiness and good energy; other days, it’s a track that’s deep, motivational, or heavy with emotion. That range is what makes my work real and relatable—because it mirrors the highs and lows we all experience.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my ability to network and build genuine connections within the industry. That’s been a major key to my progress. Connecting the dots with tastemakers, influencers, and fellow creatives didn’t come easy. There were plenty of slow days, moments of doubt, and times where it felt like nothing was moving forward. But I kept going.
What helped me push through was staying positive and seeking inspiration. I watched countless videos of artists and fashion designers who faced tough challenges but kept moving forward—and eventually broke through. Their stories reminded me that setbacks are part of the journey, not the end of it.
If there’s one message I want the world to take from my journey, it’s this: anything is possible. Stay consistent. Keep your faith strong. And most importantly, believe in yourself 100% of the time—even when others don’t. Your belief in yourself is the foundation for everything.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Showing Off Texas: Food, Culture, and Southern Hospitality
When it comes to giving someone the full Texas experience, I’d start with a trip to downtown Dallas. It’s the perfect place to sightsee, take in the city’s energy, and enjoy some authentic Southern BBQ. The food scene is strong, and the culture runs deep. Just down the road, downtown Fort Worth and the historic Stockyards are another must-see. The atmosphere is rich with Texas tradition, and if you’re hungry, Risky’s BBQ is a go-to spot—their sauce is elite, and the flavor is always on point.
For a more upscale dining experience, B&B Butchers & Restaurant in Fort Worth never disappoints. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but the quality of the food and service makes it well worth it. Over in Plano, you’ll find a more laid-back vibe—perfect for relaxing, enjoying a rooftop view, and unwinding with great food and drinks.
Back on my side of town, no visit would be complete without a stop at Crispy’s Fried Chicken. It’s a local favorite with unbeatable flavor. And of course, we’d have to swing by Jerry’s World—AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys—and check out Texas Live! It’s the ultimate spot for food, drinks, music, and nonstop good vibes. It all ties back to what makes Texas special: great food, unforgettable experiences, and true Southern hospitality.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This journey wouldn’t be possible without the incredible people who’ve shaped me along the way. First and foremost, I want to dedicate this to my mother, who is no longer with us. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering belief in the power of perseverance continue to guide me every day. She instilled in me a mindset that anything is possible if you’re willing to work for it — and to never give up, no matter the odds.
I also want to give a special shoutout to my father, a retired NFL player and Super Bowl Champion with the 1987 Washington Redskins. His discipline, drive, and commitment to excellence had a huge impact on me. He made sure I understood the importance of being the best at whatever path I chose, and that work ethic has carried me through every challenge.
Lastly, I’d like to recognize my mentor and manager, Mac Mills. His guidance in the music industry has been invaluable. From securing placements to helping me navigate marketing strategies, Mac has played a key role in helping me grow as both an artist and entrepreneur. I’m grateful for his support and dedication to seeing me succeed.
