We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Lindsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracy, what do you attribute your success to?
At BridgeBuilders we believe that people transform people, programs do not. Through providing mentors for our youth, allies for our adults, small group discipleship opportunities for our community, and a church for our neighborhood, we believe Bonton will be restored and transformed. Through after-school and summer programs for youth, job training and GED opportunities for adults, and other initiatives through partnerships, South Dallas residents can break through the everyday barriers to success that they encounter. By volunteers engaging the community of Bonton in service, we expect to see the uniting of individuals that will produce mutual transformation both in those serving and those being served. This along with many other factors are what we attempt to achieve here at BridgeBuilders.

What should our readers know about your business?
I love what I do and being able to come into work everyday and serve this community is something that I take great pride in. Working for a non profit like BridgeBuilders there are many long days and nights, but having the sprit of a servant is what gets us through. Often times it can be very easy to get caught up in yourself and how you are serving a certain group of people but in my career I have learned that it is a team that helps cultivate and come up with the best solution. I believe what sets us apart here at BridgeBuilders is our unique way of serving. We are not only talking about what change we would like to see but we are creating and developing that change ourselves. Nearly 70% of our staff are residents in the community. We take their ideas and the ideas of the community and use those thoughts to ingratiate the change that the community would like to see. We pride ourselves on ensuring that the community of Bonton is able to sustain the programs that we provide whether we’re here or not. Our goal is to not only help the community but be a resource for the community that can help develop Bonton into what the residents dream for it to be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The most exciting and great places here in Bonton are right around each other. Here are a list of places to check out while you’re on this side of town: -BridgeBuilders -Bonton Farms -William Blair Park -T.R Hoover -Lincoln High School and many more!!!
