Meet Tony DePasquale | Christian, husband, father, entrepreneur, real estate professional. In that order.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony DePasquale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, what’s your definition for success?
I believe that success cannot be measured by wealth or status in this world. I have worked with hundreds of very affluent individuals and what I have seen over my career is that most of them are not truly content or fulfilled with their lives. I think happiness is overrated and what people are really looking for when discussing happiness is fulfilment and meaning. I would define success as having purpose in your life, having a strong well connected family, having a solid career where your money is working for you and not the other way around, having a strong connection with your community, and most importantly having a solid foundation in the Christian faith and having a relationship with Jesus. The Christian faith is the bedrock of success and the foundation where everything else flows from. Some of the most successful and fulfilled people I have ever known have little money, but are much wealthier than many of the multi millionaires I have consulted for.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I didn’t come from a family with money and I always knew that if I wanted something in this world I was going to have to work for it and fight for it, as nobody was going to had me anything. I started out in investment management and quickly grew a successful wealth management practice in my early twenties primarily focusing on difficult and complex asset protection and retirement systems. Throughout that process I was able to build my business and then later became an executive at one of the largest investment banking and management firms in the United States. Throughout my journey I certainly had my share of successes and defeats. Nothing came easy, but after about 20 years in practice Iwas able to create and sell two multi million dollar businesses. The problem was I was working sometimes over 100 hours per week and I was never seeing my wife or children. Plus, I had some major concerns about raising my children in Las Vegas.

So, about a year ago I moved my family from Las Vegas to Dallas, sold my companies and decided to start over. When I was 17 my family had lost their home. This always had a profound effect on me growing up, as it could have easily been avoided with some sound planning. That event is why I got into finance to begin with. I didn’t want the bad things that happened to me, happen to other families. So, when I moved here I decided to start a real estate brokerage and investment firm. my firm Elysien Properties not only helps people with home ownership and sound financial practices, but also helps them find fulfillment in their lives through navigating this crazy world we find ourselves in today. I am very excited about it, very excited about the future and the type of impact we can have in this world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am more of an introvert, as I really just enjoy spending time with my family and close friends at home. The thing is Dallas Fort Worth has so many wonderful places to see and visit, it would almost be impossible to narrow them down. So I will give you my list of things I think are worth spending time at in no particular order.

The Dallas Arboretum. A wonderful place to see nature as it was intended and in a beautiful environment.
Bob Jones Park in Southlake Texas. There are a lot of trails and access directly to Lake Grapevine that provides a wonderful experience.
The Fort Worth Zoo. One of the best zoo’s in the nation.
Pecan Lodge BBQ Deep Elum- Some of the best BBQ in the country.
Feedstore BBQ and More Southlake Texas – My favorite restaurant in the metroplex.
Babes Fired Chicken – The best fried chicken I have ever had.
White Rock Lake – A great place to for water sports and social gatherings.
The SMU campus Dallas – Just touring the campus. it is such a beautiful place with a rich history.
The Star in Frisco – The Dallas Cowboys training headquarters and part of the 5 billion dollar mile. It’s pretty impressive.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Other than the King James Bible, the book that has had the most impact in my life has been Mere Christianity by C.S Lewis. If you are looking for a logical, disciplined, and intellectual overview of the Christian religion, you would do yourself a service by reading it. my family, my wife and children have had a tremendous impact on my life and I would not be anywhere close to who I am today without them.
