We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Timothy, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
I can never stop learning. I have to stay curious about changing trends and new technology in order to stay relevant.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
How did I get started? Well, that is a very long story but the short version is I got into multi-media production because I am a failed musician…LOL. After trying so hard for years to become a legendary touring musician it became obvious that I was not qualified to be in the same field let alone stage with other professional musicians. So after careful and financial consideration I turned my attention to assisting those who are actually great musicians and artist. It was easy transition for me because I understood the needs of the artist from being a former performer. After years of doing commercial photography, video producing and project managing as an independent contractor I decided to found my own video production firm (Pickafro Productions Inc.) in 2014. I have always loved telling stories both verbally and visually and now after much thought and a failed attempt at a production partnership this was a time for me to do it.
The biggest challenge has been the advancement in technology. It has democratized filmmaking and videography. And now we have a saturation of visual storytellers that do not have experience or even an understanding of video compositional storytelling.
We really believe in trying to create art to inspire and encourage. We have decided to never tell stories that do not have
hope attached to the story’s theme. We understand and own the responsibility that the stories we tell can have a lasting impact on individuals and our community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have a plethora of concert music venues in the DFW area that host local, regional and nationally renown musicians everyday of the week. The places I enjoy frequenting are two historic club venues Club Dada and Trees in Deep Ellum.

We are also a food mecca, so there is no shortage of great food to find.
My favorite BBQ spot is Slow Bone in the Design District,
Loro in East Dallas or Addison (Asian bbq fusion)
For great steaks and cocktails we always go to Dakota’s Steakhouse, if you go to the bar ask for Taylor or Matthew.
A great local Distillery is Lockwood Distilling Co. in Richardson, Tx a few miles north of downtown Dallas.
My favorite affordable down home American fare is Ozona’s on Greenville Ave.

Since I am Dallas history buff I love supporting and visiting the Old Red Courthouse, the Sixth Floor Museum and the Dallas Holocaust and Human Right Museum.
When it comes to the outdoors my wife and I love canoeing on White Rock Lake and walking the trail. Since we also love plants so we like to visit the Dallas Arboretum.

I also enjoy sports so going to a Rangers, Mavericks or Cowboys game is a fun experience. I also love the Mavs’ G league team the great Texas Legends.

Some great places to hang out and have drinks is
KSP on Henderson Ave

Bourbon & Banter in Downtown Dallas (they serve more than bourbon, but, why)
Bowen House in Uptown

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife (Christian Scott) for consistently believing in me. My family (too many siblings to name) and close friends (once again too many to name) for always being there and walking with me during some of my greatest and some of the worst times in my personal and professional life. Also to some of the greatest guys I have worked with consistently in the multi-media/entertainment industry, Roy & Chuck Oliver of the Oliver Brothers Productions Inc., Mike Gaskins of Pointed Pictures, Caleb Beene, Fons Roever, Joshua Russell, Kyo Edmundson and Mark Frederick. These individual have educated and challenged me intellectually and technically for years.
I also have to thank Monya Logan of St. Luke Community UMC and Annie Evans of South Fair CDC. Because of these two ladies and their respective teams I have become more aware about serving and volunteering in my local community. This is a great way for me and my company to assist those who are less fortunate in Dallas.
