We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tim, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My main factor for my success would have to be my formal culinary training. I’ve learned from some of the most creative and talented chefs on the east coast. But the success of my brand comes from my own blend of seasonings that gives my dishes its own unique and distinctive flavor and appeal
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m Chef Tk, better known as #Swagspicechef. I relocated to the DFW area 4 yrs ago with a bag of clothes, my tax return, a dream and my family. Many advised against our spur of the moment decision but we decided to press on. Feeling that if it doesn’t work out, we would simply return. 4 years later and plenty of great memories I am proud to say that we are still here, loving every minute of our misunderstood journey. Before relocating and leaving it all behind, I’ve worked at some of the most prestigious private social clubs on the east coast, cooking a wide range of dishes from oriental, Italian vegetarian, German, Island cuisine, and Southern comfort food and more. I’ve even dabbled in gastronomy. What sets me apart from some is that I always wanted to be the Boss, not only to give instructions but I was eager to know how the business truly operated. Which resulted in me fully perusing my dreams and opening my very own Catering company, Statis Catering. Which leads me to my proudest accomplishment. The savory most memorable tasting blend you’ll ever taste. Swag Spice, it was created ……….most say that they love it because it’s flavorful and low sodium sodium Which allows them to add more salt as they see fit. I’ve gotten to where I am today by being attentive to my customers requests, expectations , and most of all putting out great products and food. From the private catering services, memorable weddings, and pop up events. Everyone is serviced with a smile. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I really enjoyed Buttons in Fort Worth, Tx and Wolf Gangs Five Sixty restaurant in the tower. But unfortunately they’ve both closed due to covid.
To be honest I haven’t really explored the majority of the DFW Metro area due to the overly congested traffic. It takes all of my energy and sanity lol
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to give a shout out to my family, they pushed me to seek schooling and become a professional chef before I even knew I wanted to be a caterer/Chef.
