Meet Tiffany Leyva | CEO Outlaw FitCamp Franchise

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Leyva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
One of the single most important decisions I’ve made which I believe contributes to success is to be resilient and have a never give up attitude. Some days will be harder than others but not every day is hard or the same. I’ve learned to be proactive and plan ahead with many tasks and I believe that starts with daily habits. About 11 years ago I became a morning person and now wake up around 4:30am. Waking up early helps me set the tone for the day and if there are pending projects needing to be accomplished I can knock those out before the phone starts ringing and emails start blasting. It’s work in a hyper focused peace that helps get things done so I have more time to focus on personal and professional goals.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I have quite a unique story about how I’ve come to be the CEO of Outlaw FitCamp. At the age of 14 my family moved from Windsor Ontario Canada to Flower Mound Texas back in 1996 and I began my freshman year of high school without knowing a single person. At the time that wasn’t fun but looking back I believe it helped me learn how to grow even if I’m uncomfortable. Growing up my entire family were entrepreneurs, my grandpa was a chef with his own restaurant, my aunt and uncle had a restaurant franchise, ather aunt owned a salon and the list goes on. I was lucky to see how entrepreneurship works from a young age.
After highschool I was still in the process of obtaining my US citizenship and college was quite expensive without having citizenship so I went to beauty school and followed the footsteps of my mother and aunt. At first I wasn’t thrilled about the idea as I had many other dreams and goals but today I am so grateful for the lessons I’ve learned behind the chair. At the age of 19 I went into business on my own doing hair and makeup, later I had the amazing opportunity to join the Kevin Murphy brand and became a key educator for them. In 2011 opened a salon and spent 17 years behind the chair to date. I’ve learned invaluable lessons from my clients, from other salon professionals that help me with my profession today.
2015 was a shift for me professionally, my husband at the time had a large personal training studio, Jesse James Fit and decided to develop a franchise model Outlaw FitCamp. Although I was still doing hair at the time, I was also competing in bodybuilding contests, got my personal trainer certification and helped with the development of Outlaw FitCamp. As Outlaw FitCamp grew I became more involved and loved the aspect of helping women feel beautiful in a different way then I was behind the chair. Knowing first hand from my own transformation, health and fitness was the ultimate anti aging solution and made the decision to close my salon in 2019 to work for Outlaw FitCamp full time.
All of the lessons from childhood, to moving to a different country and becoming an entrepreneur at the young age of 19 molded me to where I am today. The biggest lesson of it all is you don’t have to know it all but you must be willing to learn and that is just what I did and continue to do for our company and team.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If you have a friend visiting town, what are some spots you’d take them to?
If my best friend was visiting I’d have to take her to the shacks dog park for a beer and some great tacos plus time with the pups (I have two fur babies and love them to the moon). Then we’d probably plan a girls getaway to Texas hill country for some R&R. Once back in town take them to a few Outlaw FitCamp locations for a great workout then grab some amazing Mexican food and wonderful margaritas at our favorite restaurant MiDia From Scratch kitchen. We’d also have to plan a fun night of live music and cocktails at Marty B’s in Bartonville. Must do some shopping and grab some amazing Texas BBQ at Hard Eight before the trip is over.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to recognize those who have helped me along my journey and profession. My husband Jesse Leyva is a huge inspiration to me and always has been. Jesse is the Founder of Outlaw FitCamp Franchise, his vision and work ethic is unmeasured and massively inspiring. He has shown me what perseverance looks like and how to manage obstacles all while maintaining a positive outlook everyday. Without his mentorship, example and guidance I wouldn’t be the type of leader for our company and I own many thanks to him for that.
Also, I’d like to shout out our team! I am so very fortunate to have such dedicated, service oriented and passionate people a part of our team that go above and beyond for our members, our teammates to get the job done, and done well.
Last, there are so many business mentors that have taken the time to pull me under their wing and share their knowledge with me. That is invaluable to me that these busy professionals take out their time to help another and inspires me to do the same. A few to mention would be Shane Evens, co-Founder of Massage Heights, Biz Owners Ed, a dedicated Dallas based business professional group that comes together for 10 weeks each year and provides many great speakers to learn from. There are many to list here but I believe you should always be learning and growing no matter what stage you are at professionally, there is always something to learn from anyone you meet.
