Meet Tiara Jahnay | Dancer, Dance Instructor Choreographer, and Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiara Jahnay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always known from a very young age that I would be a business owner because I watched my Dad all my life be an entrepreneur. I have been dancing for as long as I can remember and wanted to start back dancing for myself. When covid happened and I lost my job due to Covid, I realized I needed a fresh start for myself. Not just relying on work from a dance studio but trying to create my own path. That is when the Tiara Jahnay brand was created. Here’s the story you can find on my website.

Tiara Jahnay started as a brand for myself on Instagram & Youtube. It’s been about 3 years since I physically danced. Yes, I am a dance teacher; however, teaching dance and physically dancing are two different aspects. Teaching has brought me to the realization how difficult it is to attempt dancing full out while trying to watch and correct my students. I am big on not just verbal corrections but also physical correcting. With that being said; over those 3 years of not fully dancing I saw my dancer body change. Granted I’ve never been a “skinny” dancer, and never wanted to be, but I knew in my heart I was missing a major piece–the physicality of dance! So I got in the studio with my Dad- he cheered me on and did my recordings. From there the vision for myself became even clearer. My heart was becoming complete again: BUT-

I felt like there was definitely more room for growth. I got to thinking about how I would keep myself accountable and to never let any part of my dance life suffer. I started rebranding myself! I began thinking I would first need a  name?

Hello, your parents named you the best brand ever– Tiara Jahnay! Taking that name so everyone knew who I was when I posted videos. I started posting videos on Youtube, hoping that my journey dancing for myself would be an inspiration not just to me, but others. I knew the first life touched would be my own! You never know how you help or touch someone’s life just by being authentically you; BUT, that was still not enough. I continued brainstorming on what additionally I could do to keep promoting this beautiful journey of dance for all sizes, shapes, cultures and dance levels within this beautiful artistry called Dance. All these thoughts cultivating to bring me that much closer to my #1 dream since I was a little girl–OPENING MY OWN DANCE STUDIO. God put the answer right in front of me when He made the whole world take a pause in life to breathe and refocus during the Covid quarantine. He first started working through me by selling my original logo t-shirts on Instagram. Then He took it to another level when He put on my heart to create a Diversity in Dance t-shirt line. So, here WE are TODAY! Welcome to a clothing brand where I AM YOU and a place where WE ALL MATTER! The support in knowing we are all beautiful dancers- beautiful people- in our own way. GOD created us all differently for a reason. Embrace all your beauty! Wear this brand with your head held high and know that I AM YOU, YOU ARE ME, & WE ARE ONE!

I then branched into additional ideas of marketing and branding because my friends and family would always ask me to do similar marketing and branding for them and would always say you should start a marketing career path. Here I am today with various branches of Tiara Jahnay.

I call do everything I put my mind to. I don’t have to be in one box. I can teach, choreograph, dance/perform myself, and run my own business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
No matter what branch under the Tiara Jahnay tree I’m working through, I am always giving it my all which keeps me quite busy. I make sure I submerge my heart and soul in it because my personal touch and the way my heart leads me makes everything magical and provides my students and customers that TIARA JAHNAY experience every time I provide a service in any way.

My tight circle- the people I’m dedicating this shoutout to- is a major reason why I’m still finding ways to keep pushing. I’m not saying it has been easy because self-doubt can sneak in but having and knowing the right people who really want to see you happy and WIN makes it super easy to keep moving forward.

I know everyone says they can be their own worst critic- but being a dancer takes it to a whole other level- when being a brown 4’9 dancer- on a thicker side–being told maybe you should lose weight by teachers. The various comments of teachers; one would ask who would think they could make their own name and path in the dance world….BUT I DID! Trust the process and always remember self-love and truly listening to your YES Sayers and look at the example my Mom and Dad set, showing me listening to society is not how you succeed in life. When you love what you do….if you can dream it you can certainly achieve it!

Tiara Jahnay Brand was the YES path that I created for myself instead of waiting on the world to give me a YES!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I still consider myself a tourist here in Texas;LOL, but I would definitely take them to the Galleria Mall-XOXO-downtown Dallas-we would definitely hit up the pool, and possibly Castle Spa.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my Parents first for being since day one my NUMBER ONE supporters. Then comes my closest family members and friends- they know who they are-always supporting me and cheering me on and telling me I got this and how proud they are of me. Lastly I dedicate this to my niece, nephews and God son because they are the reason I am pushing to create Generational Wealth for them!
