We had the good fortune of connecting with Thihi Lugano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Thihi, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The end goal for me is to own a cafe in a nice and safe neighborhood. I would like to create a space that is diverse and peaceful where people from different cultures and ethnicity can come to share a meal or work on personal business .
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner of Mikate bakery, a home bakery in DFW area. I specialize in Belgian Beignets with an African twist .What sets me apart from others is the love that I put in my goods. I bake with so much passion and I believe that it is the secret to the good taste of my beignets. I started baking for friends and family, then I began to get requests from different events that wanted to buy my beignets for their events .!I have learned that you can never give up, somedays you sale but other days you don’t . I would like the world to know that Mikate bakery is a bakery that started from wanting to provide for my daughter .
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I believe that I would take them to Deep elum area , the food is rich and authentic there . There are many lounges & bars where we could go after having a nice meal.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my daughter Jemimah for being my motivation. She is the reason I decided to start baking and she is the reason I want to own a bakery.
