We had the good fortune of connecting with Theapolis Jacquét and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Theapolis, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew that I was called to be a pastor, but I never knew I would be called to planting a church. During theCovid-19 Pandemic, the church I have been serving at since I was born decided to shutdown the church, but saw fit to create a time for members to drive-thru and drop off their tithes & offerings. I disagreed with my pastor and told him we should be thinking of creative ways to administer the Word of God to the members. He told me if I disagreed with his leadership, I should start my own church, so God sent my family and I in a “New Direction.”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Planting a church is not easy. It can be similar to starting a business, but you are constantly yielding to the Holy Spirit, allow Him to make room for adjustments that sometimes doesn’t make any sense. As a pastor, I am constantly reminding myself that each day I should be shifting and transforming to become more and more like Jesus Christ. Phillippians 2:3-11 is a great scripture to help remind me of these expectations:

“3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. 9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

At New Direction our mission is To inspire individuals to shift in a new direction, from their relationship with the world to a relationship with Christ. Therefore, I must do everything I can to ensure people are being introduced to Christ and developing a strong and secure personal relationship.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to say Blaze Brazilian Steakhouse is a must visit for anyone who is in need of a fantastic DFW food experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My beautiful wife Tychelle Jacquét and my wonderful daughters, Trinity and Theoni, are the driving force that motivate me to be the best version of myself I could possibly be. They encourage me day in and day out to be a better servant, husband, father, and Christian leader.
