We had the good fortune of connecting with The VOSS Experience and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The VOSS Experience, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Outside of working for ourselves, the most important decision that has contributed to our success thus far is remembering that no one ever did it alone. We were so nervous and hesitant going into business with others that we didn’t know the personal background on. We believe going into partnership you have to be very open minded about everyone’s vision and know that we all have a role, especially in the beginning process.

With God we were able to have the confidence and faith within ourselves to make moves. Even when a move feels like a step back, God is preparing to spring us forward. Knowing that we wouldn’t be alone in the industry & in our vision we started to go with the flow and the team was built…still building. Whether it’s behind the scenes or the forefront your team is made of people with many different gifts and strengths. There are things we can do alone & there are times where we all have to come together.

Be mindful that partnership is a huge commitment in itself. So, you must have discipline and confidence in yourself so you can make long term decisions that will benefit the business because not everything will benefit you as an individual.
Striving for the balance to be driven, take risks, spend real quality time with family, and live abundantly. Those mixture of things keep our mindset grounded. knowing our core values and what’s important to us always keeps us in check when we reach too far one way. We are entrepreneurs not hustlers, meaning that we set ourselves up for the bag to come to us, not us always running after the bag.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The VOSS Experience (Visions of Successful Sisters) is a group of women coming together under one foundation to maximize each individual’s gifts and talents. The Voss specializes in multi-cultural, curly, and textured hair styling. Sharing the vision to enhance others beauty. We understand the importance of providing healthy hair care to maintain the integrity of your natural strands. The Voss believes in creating an atmosphere where women and men can get all of their beauty needs met.

We want the world to know that we take pride in our craft. We strive to not only make you look and feel beautiful, we educate you on your hair. So, when you are not in our chair you can continue to maintain it. The hair for most, is a statement and something that makes people feel better about themselves. We believe we stand apart because of the genuine care we take for our client’s, not just their hair but them as a person. In the last couple of years, people have really been moving to wear their natural texture hair and we are a salon that specializes in natural hair but can also dish out a protective style or extensions.

It was not easy getting to where we are today. We are still continuing to grow but with faith and the amazing team we have put together, it has definitely made things easier. We continue to be mindful that partnership is a huge commitment but if we stay grounded in our vision and values, we can overcome any challenge that comes our way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being in Dallas there is always something fun to do. Besides coming to get pampered at our salon, we would definitely have skating at the Galleria on the list. Checking out some immersive holiday pop-us. Driving through some of the neighborhoods to look at holiday lights. Stop by a couple of Speakeasy’s like at the Virgin Hotel or Mr X. Of course food and happy hours would be on our list. Places like K.I.S.S, Spatch Kitchen & Cocktails, Pangea, Southern Gourmet Kitchen, etc. Rounding out with landmarks they might want to see like Reunion Tower, AT&T District, and The Star.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to give a shoutout first and foremost to God for giving us the vision and talent for our craft. Also a huge shoutout to our clients. Thank you for continuing to trust us with your precious crown and allowing us to build relationships while maintaining your healthy hair. We are continuing to grow because of your continued support and of course referrals. Lastly, we want to thank our mentors and those that have sowed into us personally and professionally, as well as individually and as a business. Your guidance does not go unnoticed and we continue to be grateful for helping us to perfect our purpose.
