We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Grayczyk & Pam Kovar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline Grayczyk & Pam Kovar, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Pam and both shared a passion for going out and dancing at various dance halls and rodeos in the area. During our outings, we came up with a brilliant idea to add some sparkle and pizzazz to women’s hats. We experimented with creating our own designs and gathered inspiration, realizing that this was something that our hometown of Wylie was missing.

TF Hat Co was an inspired business when Pam saw some other boutiques on social media an hour or more away doing something similar and we thought, “Gosh, we can do that, and do it way better!” Pam fired off a text to Jacqueline and she was down! We immediately got the creative juices flowing and the mobile hat bar, TF Hat Co was born. We both shared a passion for going out and dancing at various dance halls and rodeos in the area.  We experimented with creating our own designs and gathered inspiration, realizing that this was something that our hometown of Wylie was missing. Pam having started another business in the past, had some elementary knowledge of how to get the business off and running. Adding a partner and friend like Jacqueline helped it become as successful as it has been.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a full-time work mom of 2 kids and the Financial Aid Manager for the Wylie Campus at Collin College and also oversee Veterans Services for the District. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, I find joy in guiding and encouraging individuals to pursue their educational aspirations. Throughout my journey, I have learned that having a supportive network is crucial for success, which has been instrumental in the growth of Turquoise Feather Hat Co. Having a creative outline is not only beneficial for my mental health, but it also allows me to take a break from the daily grind.

I am a full-time working mom of 4 kids. By trade, I am a Practice Administrator and Dental Educator for Fisher & Zitterich Dentistry and The Academy of Chairside Assisting. When I am not elbow-deep fixing teeth or teaching about them, I am coaching my kids, spending time with my husband, and high school sweetheart, of 20 years, or working in our other business. The Turquoise Feather Hat Co. is dedicated to helping women (and men) feel confident in themselves and expressing their creativity, and we are most of all dedicated to giving back as we have been so blessed. That is what is most exciting about having your own business, you get to give back in ways you never dreamed possible. We are happy about being able to give back in seemingly little ways now but are thrilled about bigger ways in the future as our business grows.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

To start, I would suggest taking them to the Turquoise Feather Hat design studio in downtown Wylie where they can select and customize their own unique hat. Afterward, we can explore some of the charming shops located in downtown Wylie like Shoemaker & Hardt and The Ole Back Porch. We can also grab a delicious lunch at Frankie’s and enjoy a refreshing drink at Herman Marshall. Lastly, then we would head to Fort Worth for the rodeo and dance the night away at Billy Bob’s.

We moved here 7 years ago, so we have some favorites, of course! If you’re in Texas, you gotta look the part. So, we would come to TF Hat Co for our Texas-themed & styled hats. Then, head to some local boutiques & western stores for some outfits. Once we looked the part, off to Fort Worth we would go! We love the Stockyards and all it has to offer for a full Texas immersion experience. The nightlife is great as well with Billy Bob’s and the Piano Bar. If we wanted to stay a little more local, we would hit up Southern Junction and dance the night away!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

First and foremost I would like to thank God for giving me the strength and guidance. Then I would like to express my gratitude to my husband, who is not only the love of my life, but also my hero. He served our country in the Marine Corps and we have known each other since high school. I am also grateful to my two boys whom we refer to as Sons of Thunder, who have been incredibly supportive of my career aspirations and creative endeavors. Additionally, my parents have always been a source of encouragement, inspiring me to believe in myself. Without the encouragement, advice, love, and support from everyone, my life would be so much more different and boring. Appreciate you all so very much!

I would not be the person I am today without Jesus leading my steps. God has been so good to me, through all my struggles and good times, He has been there. My husband, Bryan, is my best friend, biggest supporter, and advisor. You can thank him for the branding on the hats- his idea!  My kids are my motivation to continue to work hard. I would work myself to death for those kids if it meant they could experience life’s best! My closest friends who know me best, know when to slow me down and cheer me on, they are a true gift!
