We had the good fortune of connecting with The Deadly Beloved and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Deadly Beloved, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The Deadly Beloved is an alt-rock band from the DFW Metroplex comprised of Xavier Bernazard, Lauren Samonte, Sinclaire Wade, Victor Granados & Josh Garrison. Back in 2022, our lead singer Xavi was working on their debut album “Balloons For My Funeral” along with their first tour “Danse Macabre.” During the tour, Lauren and Xavi decided to convert the solo project into a band called “The Deadly Beloved”. The name pays homage to the video game series “Kingdom Hearts” referencing the main theme “Dearly Beloved”. The most prevalent themes in that series are connection, memories, the importance of emotion, & determining one’s identity, which closely relates to the music we write. Our goal is to create a safe space in music and to give a voice to all those who feel voiceless.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

We would say that our proudest achievement right now is having released our latest single “HAUNTED” This was the first song that features the current iteration of the band and explores a post-funeral sonic direction. We are currently working on new material for an upcoming EP hopefully to be released in late 2024.

We’ve been playing together for a year now and have gotten to play at really cool venues in DFW such as Ruins, Club Dada, Rubber Gloves, Andy’s Bar, among others. We also had the opportunity to play at Breast Fest 2023 hosted by For The People in Houston at 1810 Ojeman & it was super fun seeing the Houston Music Scene and getting to play with a lot of cool artists.

It was also an honor to be nominated as “Best Alt-Rock Group in 2023” as part of the Dallas Entertainment Awards. It was such a cool & inclusive event for the Dallas Music Scene. It was a great first year for us and we are excited for what comes next in 2024.

Some of the hurdles we faced were locking in a guitarist for the project (we are so lucky to have found Josh), learning social media strategies, and learning how to book independently. While challenging, it was still exciting and rewarding in the long run.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food: Tacos y Más, Fortune House, Hattie B’s Hot Chicken,

Music: Three Links, Ruins, Rubber Gloves, Club Dada, Trees, The Factory.

Drinks: Oak Lawn (“Gayborhood”), Lower Greenville, & Deep Ellum

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to give a shoutout to our family, friends, & fans who have supported us in this musical project by coming to our shows, buying merch, streaming, sometimes housing us for out-of-town shows, and simply believing in us. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We wouldn’t be able to do this without you.
