We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrance Barksdale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrance, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It is something I was born with when I was a child around ten or eleven years old, drawing cartoon characters and submitting them to Disney companies. It was just a gamble to see if what I had produced at the time would be good enough to catch a wider audience’s attention. Despite not being a great drawer, I wanted to give it a shot. I developed my artistic skills as I created music from start to finish over the years. It was important to me to know everything about recording myself and creating the artwork. In my mind, at the time, whatever rapper 50 Cent was using to create his projects, I would use to create my own, which has become a super popular trend in recent years. As far as I’m concerned, everything I’ve done has been ahead of my time. It has always been my habit to think ten steps ahead of the current trend long before it begins to develop. Doing creative things is a part of my normal routine with me designing brands and pursing photography and video. It’s my passion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I guess the thing that sets me apart from others is that I will push myself even when all the odds are stacked against me. Learning how to work with less and be proud and confident in my execution. What I am truly proud of is that no matter what I always find a way to keep my creative side going. In order to adjust to the changing world around me artistically, I’m always trying to reinvent myself. Where I am now, I’m still growing and learning because trends change more than Texas weather on a good day. The lesson I have learned over the years is that gamble on yourself don’t put any faith and trust in others no one will have the same passion and drive as oneself. One thing the world should know about me is that I will never give up being a creator. This is no matter what life throws at me. I am more than a brand and an influencer for those around me. I’m far from perfection and still have a lot to learn throughout my journey in life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say first off if you have not been to a Dallas Cowboys game that is a must do when the season starts. So much fun and positive energy in the stadium. Visit the Reunion Tower is amazing to get the full skyline view of the city no matter whether its day or night. We have so many restaurants to choose from for delicious meals such as Bellagreen, Chopped House Burgers and a restaurant called Enchilada’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To be honest, if I didn’t go through the ups and downs in my life, I wouldn’t have the mindset to keep pushing on because this is just the start of my journey in life until I achieve my ultimate goals.
