We had the good fortune of connecting with T’Edra Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi T’Edra, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My balance has changed over time, I stopped believing in balance and started prioritizing. Balance offers a false sense of security when two things are carrying the same weight and it’s hard to do in many situations, it creates strain. At this point in time I started to prioritize what is relevant. Prioritizing has allowed me to be more proactive in setting and achieving my goals.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There I was facilitating a women’s workshop. Watching their facial expressions as I explained the methodology of understanding your community, gifts and those you serve, the feedback, smiles and ah-ha moments that the participants had in my workshop not only gave me a rewarding feeling, it was the feeling that would force me to work pursue a career that would allow me to have that feeling on a consistent basis. My ah-ha moment came!!! I found the place where my gifts and talents will be revealed, created and cultivated it was Learning and Development and the methodology I was unknowing sharing with my participants actually had a name.. It was called ADDIE! After experiencing my first reduction in force I decided that pursing a career in Learning and Development would be the best career for me and my skills. The work I do for Kingsskid was the foundation I stood up seeking to switch careers. Doing my 5-9 helped me realized that my 9-5 was not fulfilling at all and a change was needed …soon!
