We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Vinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always wanted to do something that was impactful and allowed me to express myself the most. I’ve thought about so many ideas but I decided to start with candles because they are something that has always made me feel more at home with myself. Lighting a candle has been a great part of my self-care routine and I know it’s the same for others. With Taylor Rachelle though, I wanted to put an extra emphasis on feeling good and expressing yourself. We’re not just another candle company. Our first collection is the Art of Living collection which promotes the idea of being the “artist of your life.” I hope to inspire people to indulge in things that make them feel good more because we are the creators of the lives we live and we deserve to feel good about it. No matter how big or small, I think it’s always important to go after what you love and getting to create things that make other people feel good is what I love the most about starting my business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Taylor Rachelle started off selling candles and we launched our Love Yourself More body butter collection about a year later. I am most proud of our mission to be uplifting and truly inspiring. Our body butters come with affirmational messaging to inspire you to “Be Gentle with Yourself” and “Give Yourself Some Grace.” I think Taylor Rachelle products are about embracing a sense of softness and ease. We really try to put those values on the front because that’s a strong backbone of our brand. It was a struggle trying to figure out exactly what path we wanted to take. We believe that “You Deserve Nice Things” and luxury experiences can be down to earth. Finding the capital to expand our offerings has been a challenge. We’re applying to more grants this year in hopes of gaining more resources to help us grow. We want to continue building our experiences that make people feel good about themselves. That’s our ultimate goal.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite places to go in the city are the Bishop Arts District. I love walking around that area and being inspired by all of the small shops doing MAJOR things. I would definitely have a friend check out the Go Easy shop. I think it’s such a cute place. I’d also take a friend to the Dallas Museum of Art. It’s really beautiful and more unique than some of the other museums I’ve visited across the country. I have a dog so, I would definitely take my friend to the NorthBark Dog Park to watch my little nugget run around. Maybe that’s more fun for me than anyone else (ha!) but I think anyone can appreciate the joy a dog feels when he gets to run free. I would also walk a trail at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. I love being outdoors so my favorite places are centered around getting out in fresh air. Some of my favorite food spots are Whistle Britches. That pomegranate froze is top-notch! I also would recommend the spaghetti at North Italia particularly the location on N Akard. The view outside on a really nice evening is beautiful. Trick Pony in Deep Ellum is a nice low-key bar. I don’t always need a ton of action. Just give me a simple vibe and somewhere to chill and I’m good! Also, Bahama Bucks is a favorite treat of mine. I recommend the half sour lemon and half strawberry daiquiri.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout all of the people who have supported me throughout the last year and a half. This includes my team Samantha and Marco for being there to help support and create new ideas for Taylor Rachelle! More specifically, for Marco being my ultimate sniff tester and partner. Thank you to my mom and my sisters for helping me box up candles and running business errands. Thanks to my niece for being the inspiration of my Olivia’s Island candle. Thanks to my dad for being my business advisor. Thanks to all of my friends who helped me put labels on my products before my big event. I am so appreciative of the support I’ve been given.
