We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Redd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Do you know the saying “people live off drama”? Well, I thrive in risk, the “figuring it out” is an exciting place to be! Going to law school was a major risk, I had just had a son right after high school, and did not have a steady job to take care of us. Moving away from Ohio, in 2014 to a place that I had no family or friends – I figured it out quick. I didn’t have a job lined up or a place to stay, just made the move and everything else fell into place. Once I began Redd Rose Vodka, knwoing this industry is a major risk and there is not blueprint – I took it on head first and have had an amaxing result. These are just some of the major risks I have taken in life, and I truly believe that every risk taken, is worth it.
What should our readers know about your business?
Redd Rose comes from an idea of wanted to create my own flavored vodka. I bartended to get through school, and took time to learn the art behind mixology and how liquors and mixers are made. My clientele consists of women who enjoy flavorful cocktails that they could also make at home for their friends and family. So, I created Redd Rose, a vodka geared specifically towards women who love to influence the people around them.
The spirits industry is a beast and it is not the easiest to navigate, my legal bakground has paid off when it comes to research and learning the liquor laws. The challenge is all 50 states are different and you must know how to navigate the state.
I want to know that the story behind the brand is much bigger than just liquor, my grandmother Rose Redd created a sage space for women, where is the safe space for women in this industry when we are the biggest consumer of cocktails?
Redd Rose Vodka is that safe space.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Vidorra! I absolutely LOVE Vidorra!
