We had the good fortune of connecting with Tawanda Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tawanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business by first understanding my why. I made sure I had a why and it was big enough to pursue. I decided what I wanted to do and believed I could achieve it. One of my whys was to build my businesses in a manner where I could use my skills to serve others.
So, for me I had to decide what I wanted, I had to understand my why, and I had to believe I could make it happen. And I have. I also had to make fear my friend, understanding that if I didn’t it would keep me from my ultimate goal and remove me from my purpose. I tapped into my enter needs to figure out what I love to do and how it would serve a purpose for others and myself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My Non-Profit Women Of Wisdom Helping Hands, Allows me to serve women that are returning to society from incrassation and need help becoming acclimated in our community with tools and support to becoming self-sufficient. My Life Coaching business allows me to help others reach their goals and higher potential, helping each understand and determine what they really want and how to believe it to achieve it. Becoming an Author helps me serve by sharing my testimony encouraging going from dysfunctional to discovery knowing there is a rainbow at the end of the tunnel. My Real Estate investment helps me help others solve problems that they feel are out of reach, providing a solution. Which helps them save their credit when face having to leave their home.
What sets me apart is the personal experiences behind all that I do. My desire is not to only look out for me but be able to solve problems bigger than me. understanding my success is not just based on the amount of money I make but the lives I get to change. My delivery to my clients is understandable and relatable. I feel we all have others connected to us because they can relate so I remain aware of that, allowing transparency, building trust, and sharing wisdom.
I am proud and excited for each change I am able to make to help others walk in their light.
Prayer, Hope, determining what I want and believe I can achieve helped me to get to where I am.
It has not always been an easy journey, but it is a journey worth taking. I understood that I would meet challenges but I reminded myself that I am Great despite the hard moments. There were many times I wanted to give up when I failed at something, but then I realized there was learning and lessons in my failed moments. I understood a fail is not a dead-end, it is a detour to a better solution.
I want the world to know where I am not perfect nor do I have all the answers I am willing to serve.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The understanding of what my friend likes would allow us to adventure to try different and great foods and restaurants. Just knowing a few of the friends I have that would visit. We would have to hit up Win Star Hotel and casino. We would have a moment of Wine, talk, and charcuterie board laughter and catching up. Hosted by me. Where I do not have a set in stone spots to list I know we would have a memorable time together.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my Heavenly Father. Because without wisdom, grace, and mercy I think my purpose would be void. My children I Thank, for accepting me as their mother and helping me grow, they have given me the push and encouragement to want to go hard for them. My community of friends supported me and provided comfort when most needed. Nikki W, Creshonda M and Brandi P. From believing in me willing to go to bat for me, and being available through my cries. I am motivated by my older brother Dale, to keep pushing and the I’m proud of you talks and messages to mean more than he thinks. Where there are many others these are just a few, and I am grateful for each kind word, motivation, and encouragement from each person that has given it. Thanks from my heart.
The bible has been one of my favorite guilds, it has all the answers we could ever ask for. For me it is my guild to not be perfect but how to live in peace.
Jack Canfield. The success Principals How to Get from Where you are to Where you want to be. Are a must-read and life-changing.
Last but not least, my trials and tribulations, my pains, fears, and mess-ups from the bad relationships to the not-so-good partnership. they all thought me about my forgiveness and how to stay humble and focused on my goals. They showed me my strengths and weaknesses. I owe a lot to my learning and growing pains because they have truly helped mold me into the God-fearing woman, mother, friend, sister, and businesswoman that I am today.
