We had the good fortune of connecting with T’Aundra Tennison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi T’Aundra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When Covid hit my job downsized and I was unfortunately laid off. That was when my first thought of entrepreneurship started to form. I knew that I never wanted to feel like I had to depend on a 9-5 for financial security. I also wanted to have a career I loved to do on a daily. I never felt like any of the jobs I worked was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life and I was determined to find a career I could wake up everyday and enjoy doing. I began my dive into entrepreneurship with offering Loc services. I had always done hair off and on throughout College but I knew that wasn’t a service I wanted to provide either long-term. It wasn’t until 2021 when I took my first Lash course and I fell in love. I knew then, I wanted to pursue the beauty field with lashing and Everythting2thaTee was then formed.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I currently offer Lash services and am working toward offering other beauty services as well. I’m most proud of my brand because it’s literally built from my faith and dream of being my own boss. I’m so proud of myself for stepping out on faith and pursuing something totally different than I’ve ever done and sticking with it. Even now, I remain consistent and focused on building my business. I’m continuously learning and perfecting my craft everyday and facing new challenges head on. This journey hasn’t been the easiest but I’m more than confident that if the Lord has brought my business this far in the amount of time, than there’s no limits to what my business will become. Being a business owner in itself has showed me a new version of myself I didn’t even know existed. It’s funny because I use to tell myself I never wanted to work a 9-5 my whole life to now working 24-7! But I love it! The feeling of making a job for yourself and being able to live off of your talents and skills has brought me a new love for life and myself. Of course, every experience hasn’t been easy and there has been a lot of trial and error but that is what molds my business. I embrace the trials and errors and take them has learning tools to become a better service provider/entrepreneur. I’m learning on this journey that there are some days you feel as if your moving forward, then the next it feels like your moving backwards or not in the right direction in general. But I’ve come to accept that a business will only thrive if you just keep moving no matter the direction you feel its going, just keep going! Make the mistakes, change your mind as much as you want, take those risks because its YOUR journey and it’s uniquely tailored for YOU. Everything2thaTee has already , in just two years, been through constant changes and will continue to be tailored and improved everyday. I want people to know my Brand represents EVERYTHING that I’ve dreamed I can and will accomplish in life and how the next can look to see how you really can build a brand from a dream and faith.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my Best friend came into town and I wanted to show her a good time, we’d first start our day at an amazing breakfast spot like Brunch 360 or First Watch. Then we’d take a stroll to Clearfork shops for shopping and more food! maybe even Bowling and a Movie. Next, going to get a good workout in to rid of all the food we’ve consumed, We would either go to the gym or walk/run the Trinity River trail or attend a yoga class at Soul Sweat. We then can end our day with a fun activity like going to Sandbox VR, or for a more relaxing outing, defiantly Spa Castle. Then ending the day with Crab legs at The Crab Station.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to all my previous Lash instructors I have took courses from and every mentor and fellow lash artist that’s given me assistance and guidance as I’ve begun this new career Journey. I want to shoutout all my friends and family who has supported my business thus far. Whether it’s by being a client or sharing my business to even liking or sharing a post. They truly keep me motivated to keep perusing my dreams. I also need to shoutout the woman who hired me into her shop after only doing lashes for 10 months, Estee at WeRoqFaces studios. During my time at her salon I was able to gain so much insight into the Lashing world and being an overall business owner.
