Meet Ta’Quartney (TK) Jordan | Clothing Brand Owner (ANYWEAR BRAND)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ta’Quartney (TK) Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ta’Quartney (TK), what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that risks are leaps of faith. If you KNOW in your mind that you’re supposed to be doing something that will broaden your experience and sharpen your skillset towards ANY goal you establish, faith will manifest your vision, and that leap will come to pass! I was born and raised in a small town called Lexington, NC, and I graduated from UNC-Charlotte in 2019. After I graduated from undergrad, I had a job offer in Texas, but the company did not offer a relocation package. I had to decide immediately on the job offer and find a person to sublet my apartment in Charlotte before moving. My fiancé and I used all the money that we had, along with some help from our parents, to move our stuff and find a decent price apartment to pay for in Dallas, TX. I was so focused on taking that leap of faith because something inside me knew that it was the correct risk to take to broaden our experience and sharpen our skillsets. I took a huge risk moving from Charlotte, NC, to Dallas, TX, a place where I knew no one or much about. This city was a place I had only been to once before moving there. Being in NC the majority of my life and causally taking trips to different places imagining that “one day I’ll be someone someplace else setting the bar high for my family,” this thought always fueled my fire! Overall, I have networked with so many people in Dallas, grown in many ways, created ANYWEAR BRAND, and I must say that risks are worth taking!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My thought process behind starting ANYWEAR BRAND was not only having the luxury of being my own boss or eliminating the thought of a ceiling limit for creativity but changing the view of loungewear, considering it’s not your everyday standard attire.
I chose to create this business to show my daughter that she is capable of being her own boss and creating her own business(es). From a fashion perspective; I’ve always had a passion for clothing, shoes, and even looking the part. I knew I wanted to have my own business one day! I knew that the urban clothing pathway was pretty cluttered, so I had to think of something else that would stand out. I was a Junior in college when the thought came to me. I thought to myself, “What’s something that I wear most of the week outside of urban wear, how does it make me feel, and how does everyone want to feel in clothing throughout the day.” The thought then came to me to focus on traditional and premium loungewear, and how comfortable everyone wants to feel in clothes throughout the day. It was different from what everyone else was doing. It had its own separate lane and made its own presence no matter the brand. From a mental standpoint; I’ve always been entrepreneurial-minded and always intended to be different in everything I did!
The most important factor behind my brands’ success is that I don’t model my way of walk verbally, but I model my way by actions! My late great-grandfather, Robert Henderson, imbued this within me when I was younger! His work ethic was unmatched, making him a staple and a trailblazer over the entire city even before I was born! My relentless work ethic is the success behind my brands’ success, but “being in a position where I can provide an easier lifestyle for my family” is the thought that motivates my success.
The most challenging decision I’ve made recently was taking a risk and quitting my job to focus on the establishing of ANYWEAR BRAND! I’m not encouraging anyone to quit their jobs; I pursued my passion of ANYWEAR BRAND because I planned financially!
The single most important decision that I made at the time to contribute to the success of ANYWEAR BRAND was choosing simplicity over complexity! I could’ve quickly chosen to have an urban clothing brand. It’s much more broad compared to luxury loungewear. Premium loungewear is hard to come by in the states, easy to find online. If found online, it’ll most likely be from out of the states. I started my business at the correct time, even after waiting a few years. Nowadays, simple is what’s in! You need shoes to wear with anything and everything; ANYWEAR BRAND counts on simplicity to satisfy that NEED of a stylish dresser or relaxer!
As a parent, work-life balance has been a little challenging, but it isn’t anything I haven’t prepared for. Of course, it was easier before being a parent. Now it’s more so about managing time and abiding by what I have planned on my schedule. My schedule was highly rigorous before (with college, organizations, fraternity work, etc.) but much easier than now. Scheduling and planning allow me to balance more, and spend time with my daughter. I wish the balance swayed towards more quality time with my daughter, but she’ll appreciate what her mom and I do as time progresses! It’s essential to have a healthy work life balance. It keeps your mind leveled to work more efficiently.
Clothing may seem as if it’s made for bragging rights or to look impressive in. Little does one know how much energy it takes to uniquely create pieces of clothing from the design to the final product. You have to dive deep into your creative bag to create designs consistently. You may approach a “designing block” every so often that requires tons of brainstorming to overcome; at the end of the day, it’s your business so pace as you will with the releasing of new designs. Another thing about the industry that most outsiders aren’t knowledgeable of is the connections you make with manufacturers are significant. There are numerous ways to receive and create an item for your business that aren’t accessible for first-time clothing business owners that they’ll let you in on to succeed independently.
My favorite scripture that I go by to get me through all is Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” I take this as if I never have anything to fear because I’m simply obedient. That obedience delivers continuous accomplishments of goals set while being strong and courageous! I love this scripture because it keeps me humble, confident, and driven. My mom once told me, “Son, there isn’t a male within our immediate family that has graduated college, but I sure do believe that you will be the first to make that happen!” Instead of letting this statement make me afraid of the objective at hand, I took the goal head-on and increased the bar with an MBA! My dad once told me, “you may get discouraged sometimes, but your drive will always be stronger. I know you will push through; I’ve seen it before. Just push through!” Instead of allowing myself to be discouraged, the scripture recited in my mind at that moment, caused me to push through obstacles!
Ultimately when it’s all said and done, I want my legacy to be; God first, myself, my wife to be and child(& future children), my family and friends, my businesses and business partners, my customers, my entire community, and those I have inspired to be their best selves! I want people all across the world to remember me as someone who not only cared but someone who was well respected by all. I want to be remembered as the one who started with ANYWEAR BRAND and changed the view on simple premium loungewear! I want to be remembered as someone who was humble after all he did. I want to be recognized as one who was super successful and wasn’t afraid to show others how to be just as successful! I want to be known as one of the GREATS!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday- We would visit a few malls to pick up a few outfits or accessories for the weekly events. Find the nearest “Big Guys Chicken & Rice” restaurant right after. Then stream a few Call of Duty Warzone games before catching a few Z’s. Tuesday- We would visit a few inner city meusems while the natural light was still at it’s greatest, then capture a few personal and brand photos. Next, we’ll grab Greek food from a food truck, head to the nearest bridge walk for more photos. Stream more games before sleeping.
Wednesday- Breakfast at Spiral, make a few clothing deliveries and pack a few items to ship. Stream a few more Warzone games. Create clothing logo designs, bounce ideas off each other, and brainstorm. Order pizza before catching Z’s.
Thursday- Find the nearest gym, play basketball, and workout. Norma’s Cafe for lunch, then head across town for Picolè. Night run, then head back to catch some more Z’s.
Friday- Day party in Deep Elum, then head to Social Punch Bowl right after. Head back to the house, freshen up in new outfits and accessories, pack a few items for Shipping, then head out for dinner at El Fenix with more friends and family.
Saturday- Breakfast at Cafè Brazil, make tons of clothing deliveries, then catch a few Z’s before heading to the 85 South Show (comedy show). Head back home.
Sunday- Church, help my friend pack, drop him off at Love Field.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
