We had the good fortune of connecting with TaQoyia Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TaQoyia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think of risk as taking a chance to excel. Risking taking has played a major roll in my life as well as career. Packing up my belongings and moving 1,200 miles from my birth place, family, loved ones & my clientele was the biggest risk I’ve taken in my life. But, It also has been the most rewarding risk! It came with many opportunities and open doors for my career.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a catering and meal prep business now based in Dallas, TX. What sets my meal prep business apart is the meal options we provide for our clients. The entrées are healthy yet full of flavor. It’s lifestyle food. You’ll almost feel guilty for how enjoyable the meals are until you remember that they’re full of nutrition.

I am most proud of my next business plans & endeavors! We have some exciting things planned for this next chapter that will definitely be a milestone for the business.

It was not easy getting to where I am today. It took toiling, having to make majors decisions on my own & lots of stress.

Along the way I learned that there is no goal that I have that is out of my reach. Everything is doable.

I want the world to know that as a entrepreneur you’re choosing to work 24/7, you’re your own boss and as good as it sounds it’s stressful and full of up’s and downs. It’s definitely a faith walk! You don’t get guaranteed checks every Friday so money management is very important and you MUST be consistent.

Please know that I am only where I am in my business because of God. I’ve been an entrepreneur for 10 years. When I first started I never classified myself as a creative or entrepreneur, it was just something that I did with ease. I went from graphic designing, printing and selling T-shirts, eyebrow arching & makeup artistry, acting, ministry engagements, videography & photography, social media management, credit advisory, selling raw hair extensions, branding and content creating, nannying to meal prepping. Having all of this experience proves that nothing is limitless. You can take whatever you’re good at, master it and make it a career.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although I just moved here I would definitely bring them to one of my favorite brunch spots, Jonathan’s or Ebb & Flow. Art Park Trinity Groves is definitely the spot we’d go to hang out, grab cake and people watch

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without thinking twice I give credit to my grandmother, Earnestine Shoals because she has been my greatest inspiration.
