We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamesha Pearson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamesha, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I am a wife, mom, pediatric nurse, and certified nutrition coach. Soon after having my 2nd child, a series of unfortunate events occurred in my life. I felt like my life was in dismay and out of control, but I knew I had to focus on what was in my control. I took a vow to prioritize my health by making adjustments to my lifestyle while creating an environment that would promote wellness in my family and break generational curses of disease and mental illness.
In 2016, I began meal prepping to get my life on track, cooking was always fun for me and I enjoyed making creative meals for my family before I had to work my night shifts. My loved ones began to witness my results and encouraged me to kick start my business PrepT FIT MEALS, now known as PrepT Lyfe. Over time my passion for introducing wellness through meal prep evolved to include nutrition coaching!
Today I continue to serve as a full time nurse, while providing nutrition coaching and meal planning to clients in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I have recently made the decision to take my focus away from meal prepping for others and focus on helping them get to the root of their nutrition challenges with my coaching services.
These last 6 years owning my business, serving as a nurse, and maintaining a healthy home, I have learned that making the choice to take care of myself, is the greatest gift I can give to others. Taking care of myself gives me the ability to better serve others with excellence. When people are connected to me and PrepT Lyfe, they are motivated and excited to see how sustainable it is to lead a healthy and fulfilled lifestyle.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Since I have halted my prep services due to a greater need for my nursing skills, I have received rave reviews and urgent request to resume with my meal prep services, many have converted to my coaching services where I share my tips and tricks. There are several meal prep businesses and coaches out there, but you taste the love with my food, it was like no other. Making the the decision to run my coaching business, along with my crazy full time nursing schedule is very challenging, but worth it. I get the opportunity to hold the hand of my client and guide them into wellness that will change their life and greatly impact their family. Many people do not even consider the impact their family history, relationships, and stress has on their relationship with food. With PrepT Lyfe coaching, my focus is not to drop weight quickly, I am intentional about challenging my clients to take time to consider thoughts and feelings they have when the eat or even crave certain foods. My clients experience personable and dedicated time with me to just focus on them and their long term wellness goals. I want the world to know that I am a natural servant, so when they choose to make a wellness vow with my leadership as their coach, they will not be disappointed.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends visiting my in town, I would take them to Taverna’s in Uptown for low key brunch, then we would go to Soiree Coffee Bar (Black Owned) to sober up a bit. If there weather was nice, I drive them to the Dallas Arboretum and walk around and take pics in the beautiful gardens. Mid week, we’d go to water gardens in Fort Worth and visit Cinnaholic on Currie street ( Black owned), then visit Jaykusteaux Cuisine in Arlington for some Delicious Cajun food!
Thursday night we’d listen to live poetry and music at Ten 01 uptown!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without the support of my husband and children, I would not be able to imagine what my life would look like. They challenge me to continue with my business endeavors, even though it may take away from time with them because they know it is my passion. They are confident in my coaching skills and and have also assisted me in several ways to ensure PrepT Lyfe is a success for our legacy!
