Meet Tamara

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business wasn’t something I planned from the beginning — it was something I felt deeply called to do.
When I moved to the U.S., I had to start from zero: no connections, no clients, and in a completely new language and culture. But I brought with me my experience, my hands, and my love for beauty — especially nail care. I’ve always believed that even small details, like well-done nails, can make a woman feel confident and empowered.
At first, it was survival. I needed to support myself and my child. But over time, it became something bigger — a purpose. I realized that I don’t just do nails — I help women feel seen, cared for, and beautiful. That energy became the heart of my business.
The idea of creating a space where I could express my creativity, build honest client relationships, and eventually teach others — it lit a fire in me. I wanted freedom. I wanted control over my life. And I wanted to prove to myself that I could build something meaningful with my own hands — literally and figuratively.
Starting a business came with a lot of fear and risk, especially in a new country. But passion, consistency, and a clear vision helped me keep going. And today, I not only run a nail studio — I also teach courses, mentor beginners, and share everything I’ve learned along the way.
I started my business because I believed there had to be more for me — and now, I help others believe the same about themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work in the nail care industry and have been building my own beauty business in the U.S. for several years now. I don’t just do nails — I create a space where every woman feels confident, beautiful, and valued. Alongside my services, I also teach — I run courses in manicure, nail extensions, and pedicure, sharing not just techniques, but also the confidence to start your own business.
What sets me apart? I came to a new country and started from scratch — no clients, no connections, and a new language. Everything I’ve achieved is the result of hard work, self-education, and deep love for what I do.
The journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced language barriers, financial risks, and the fear of not being understood. But those challenges made me stronger, more flexible, and determined to keep going. I’m proud that I’ve built my business from the ground up — and now I’m helping other women do the same.
What I want the world to know is this: behind every beautiful set of nails, there’s a story — a story of growth, resilience, and inner beauty that shines through.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit me in Dallas, I’d make sure to show them the most vibrant, cozy, and unforgettable parts of the city.
We’d start with breakfast at La La Land Kind Café — a warm and welcoming place with great coffee and the kind of atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. After that, a peaceful walk through Klyde Warren Park, and if we’re in the mood for art and culture, a stop at the Dallas Museum of Art.
Later in the day, we’d head to Bishop Arts District — one of my all-time favorite spots. It’s full of charm, with unique boutiques, local art galleries, and creative cafés. It’s the perfect place to just wander and enjoy life.
For dinner, we’d go to The Henry or Sixty Vines for great food and a beautiful sunset vibe. And to end the evening — rooftop drinks and music at HG Sply Co, one of the best places for atmosphere and views.
If we had more time, I’d take them out to Grapevine Lake or Arbor Hills Nature Preserve to enjoy nature and relax. And if they had kids with them, we’d definitely spend a day at the Dallas Zoo and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science — always a hit.
Dallas isn’t just highways and business — it has soul, energy, and warmth. I love sharing that with people I care about.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
From the very beginning, I chose my own path. I made the decision to pursue this profession on my own — I’ve always loved what I do, and I’ve tried to build a life around doing what brings me joy. I never looked for the easy way, but I knew exactly what I wanted and worked toward it step by step.
I want to give special thanks to my friends and the American family who supported me when I moved to the U.S. alone with my son. That was a challenging time, but I already knew how my business worked and I was determined to rebuild it from scratch here. Their support, belief in me, and genuine care made all the difference. Thanks to them, I was able to stay on track and feel that I wasn’t alone. I’m deeply grateful — they truly became part of my success story.
