We had the good fortune of connecting with Taelyr Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taelyr, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
A healthy curiosity and to a certain degree a lack of shame have really helped me make some cool things! Sometimes an idea will just pop into my head for a style or texture and rather than assuming it isn’t possible, I reverse engineer to figure out how to make it possible. I fail a lot, but I think it’s ultimately helped me be better.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In my “professional” life I support small businesses! I actually didn’t know that economic development was an industry before one of my mentors recommended me for a position at a company who ran a small business development program. I have now been in the industry for nearly a decade and I love it. It’s not always easy because you want to help as many business owners as you can, so it’s a hard pill to swallow when you can’t. I have learned a lot about giving direct, but gentle feedback though which I think has helped me excel in other aspects of my career where that critical feedback is delivered with care.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I actually just did this for a visiting friend! I admittedly spend a lot of my time in Bishop Arts, Deep Ellum, and downtown. I’m a major foodie so that is always my first priority.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family. Definitely. My mom encouraged and funded all of my creative pursuits and some of those Hobby Lobby trips were NOT cheap. I went through a lot of things before I found jewelry. My aunt for buying me my first jewelry kit. My brother for putting up with and encouraging my shenanigans and I have so much extended family and loads of friends cheering me on always.
