We had the good fortune of connecting with Taelor Nelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taelor, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My journey to starting my own business has been a culmination of experiences and self-discovery. I remember setting up my first businesses back in elementary school, whether it was selling handmade crafts or organizing small events.
As I grew older, I got caught up in the excitement of starting businesses based on what was trending at the time. However, it wasn’t until I found myself in Dallas, working tirelessly across more than 10 different jobs, that I took a step back to reflect on my true passions and strengths.
I asked myself some pivotal questions: ‘What am I genuinely passionate about? What type of work comes naturally to me, something I’d be willing to do even if there was no financial reward?’ That’s when it hit me like a bolt of lightning – building businesses, marketing, and branding which is something I was doing for free for businesses during the pandemic when they have to rely heavily on social media marketing.
The idea of creating something from scratch, strategizing its growth, and crafting a unique brand identity resonated deeply with me. It’s not just a job; it’s a calling. I realized that this is what I was meant to do, and that’s when I embarked on the path to start my own business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We’re all about delivering a personalized and elevated marketing experience. We specialize in leveraging the power of social media to drive sales and heighten brand awareness. What sets us apart is our commitment to quality over quantity. By intentionally limiting our client roster each month, we ensure that we have the time and resources to truly immerse ourselves in understanding our clients and their businesses on a profound level. This deep dive allows us to develop hyper-tailored strategies that resonate with the heart and soul of each brand we work with. At our agency, it’s not just business; it’s a genuine partnership built on trust, creativity, and results. I know my clients favorite foods, their kids’ names, the whole nine haha!
We don’t use the term “luxury” lightly – we live and breathe it in every aspect of our service. For instance, consider our personal branding client flying into Dallas next week. We’ve gone the extra mile by arranging for her a personal driver, a top-notch branding photoshoot, the expertise of a stylist and makeup artist, and even a carefully curated itinerary filled with the best dining experiences and more. Luxury is not just a buzzword; it’s a commitment to making our clients feel their absolute best.As someone who cherishes luxury in my personal life, I relish finding innovative ways to infuse it into our business offerings.
Working from the inside out has been the transformative journey that has led me to where I stand today. For years, I embarked on numerous entrepreneurial ventures that, unfortunately, met with failure. Looking back, I realize that it was because I hadn’t fully prepared myself to embrace the role of a full-time entrepreneur. It wasn’t until I began to shift my focus inward, addressing critical aspects of my mental and emotional well-being, building discipline, and nurturing my self-confidence, that everything changed. Instead of telling God what I wanted and when, I started asking God what He wanted from me. That shift in perspective was pivotal. It allowed me to tap into a deeper sense of purpose and alignment, enabling me to strike gold in the realm of entrepreneurship. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most profound successes are born from inner transformation and surrendering to a higher purpose.
My journey to Dallas was a leap of faith, characterized by nothing but my fearless and free spirited personality. I arrived with no job, no savings, and no concrete plan – just a hustle! Resilience has always been a cornerstone of my life philosophy. I’ve come to understand that getting back up every time life knocks you down is the only way to win. Growing up, I dabbled in countless pursuits, seemingly all over the map to others. However, it was this exploration that allowed me to uncover my true passions. I encourage everyone to start now, with whatever resources you have. No matter how prepared you think you are, life will still throw hurdles as towering as the Great Wall of China your way. It’s your resilience and determination that will enable you to leap over them and emerge stronger on the other side.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were in town, first, we’d kick off our day with the chicken and waffles brunch at Yardbird – best chicken and waffles i’ve ever had and Im a real country girl so I would know! Then, we’d go to Upstairs Circus, and get creative with some arts and crafts! For dinner, Im in love with Sky Blossom their rooftop views and the food is amazing! Thursday night would lead us to Mr. X Cocktail Lounge for some R&B vibes. We’d make some time for karaoke at Casablanca, followed by a night out in Bishop arts and who knows what that would lead to! Im always meeting people and going on adventures!
I might try to convince her to join me for a skydiving adventure at the Dallas Skydive Center, but when she says no… which she will! I’d suggest the exhilarating Go Ape Zipline Park as an alternative because the skydive thing was worth a shot. We’d also unwind with a resort pass at one of the city’s upscale hotels, enjoying some of their luxurious amenities for the day. And, of course, a visit to King Spa or Spa Castle would be the perfect way to recharge. After all of this, I just hope that she’s tired and ready to call it a week! – or maybe just maybe she would still want to get into something else and in that case, Im down!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a massive shoutout to my incredible mom, who has been my guiding light and biggest supporter since day one. From the time I was just a kid, she saw that entrepreneurial spark in me even before I recognized it myself when I started taking my allowance and buying crafts, snacks, and whatever was hot at the time to resell at school for profit. She strongly encouraged me to pursue a business education, but, being the independent spirit that I am, I initially chose to major in criminology. Despite that, she provided me with the space to explore all my interests and hobbies, no matter how unconventional, as long as they aligned with my morals and values. She’s been my teacher, mentor, and role model in all things business, from the soft skills to operations and even legal matters and business structure. I also want to acknowledge my dad, who’s been instrumental in exposing me to diverse environments and encouraging my self-discovery. Like my mom, he’s been unwavering in his support for all my endeavors, no matter how wild or how frequently they change. It’s thanks to their incredible support that I’ve been able to achieve success at such a young age, and for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
