We had the good fortune of connecting with Sylvia Flanagan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sylvia, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lessons I’ve learned as a business owner have been to always be professional, to be consistent, maintain my integrity, to be a giver, and show the love of Christ.
What should our readers know about your business?
To begin with I never compare myself or the services that I provide to my clients to anyone else. Every professional stylist have their own areas of particular expertise. I try to focus on healthy hair and spiritual health of my clients. What has helped me in my business is the fact that I not only listen to what the clients want but I listen to what they need. My clients don’t just come to me for hair services they come to me for the atmosphere, the experience of exclusivity, and the presence of God. Putting Christ first has helped my business prosper and survive through challenging times. Along my journey as a Christian business owner I’ve learned to Listen to my clients, Love people through the good and the bad, Lead by setting the example to others, and Lean on the Lord at all times.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would obviously take my best friend shopping at North Park Mall. Out to eat at Sixty Vines. We would spend some time at the Dallas Arboretum, Legacy West, Grapevine and Allen Premium Outlets, Trinity Grove, Addison, and Deep Ellen
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my husband Jonathan Flanagan for his support and encouragement. Also would like to thank my Life Coaches, Pastor’s Darrell and Linda Reado and Pastor’s Chris and Sheila Walls for their mentorship.
