We had the good fortune of connecting with Sybill Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sybill, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Have you ever questioned your purpose? Have you experienced failure after failure that you wanted to just throw in the towel? I’m sure we all have but one thing for sure, those failures will turn into success! In 2018-2019 I experienced episodes of anxiety. The space I was in was dark and gloomy. I couldn’t see anything past it, I was lost. The job I thought was going to be my “long term career” became just another job to clock in and clock out to. I knew I was destined for something so much better, something that had my name written all over it, something that spoke GREATNESS! In the year 2016, I started my fitness journey. Day after day I started to fall in love with the lifestyle. The physical transformation was one thing but it was more so the way I started to feel inside. I felt stronger, I felt in control, and I felt the dark space I was once in being filled with so much light. As I continued to grow, I decided to share my story and journey with the world. I was amazed of how many people were inspired by my journey. I then realized people were sending messages asking me if I was a trainer, can I train them, and rooting me on to start my own business to becoming a trainer and etc. This never once cross my mind because I never seen myself as a trainer. I then realized what if this is my calling, why should I doubt myself but there is a reason for everything. I started my online training courses to become certified trainer and to develop more information on fitness training. Now here I am the owner of Jewelz Arena Dance & Fitness.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I decided to launch Jewelz Arena Dance & Fitness, I literally had a million ideas that I wanted to just throw out there. However, when building something new, you have to take it one step at a time to ensure that the foundation you are going to build on is strong, durable, and solid. Building the foundation takes a while and I am still in the process of doing just that. Most importantly, finding a strong team to build with. Becoming your own boss is not easy, especially when you are a mother of three kiddos and still employed trying to finance your dreams along with providing. My world is always spinning it’s non stop and can be overwhelming most of the time. Jewelz Arena Dance & Fitness started in June 2019. The Arena offers personal, group, and virtual fitness training. If anyone would like to add spice to their workout, we also teach and host dance and twerk fitness classes. What is more fun than grooving and dancing while also getting in a great sweat to burn calories and get fit. Our motto is “Believe you can and you’re halfway there!” If you can set your mind up to believe you can do something then it is already done now lets generate those signals to our body and create some action! I tell my clients I will not lead their journey for them, they will lead and I am there to guide them every step of the way. The Arena is known for its style, energy and effort to spread the importance of self-care, confidence, and growth. We are most proud of our client’s life changes testimonies. What sets us apart from others is our goal to achieve much more than a physical transformation. We are transforming our minds, body and souls to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. Every client that touches the Arena has a stone that is placed in the foundation. This is what The Arena is built on.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a best friend was visiting the area I would take them to the heart of Dallas. There many places I love and my list will go on and on but one place that is a must see is XOXO Dining Room, the vibes are so amazing and speak women empowerment overall. If we are for a turn up then we are headed over to Harlowe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to James Earl, co-owner and group fitness instructor of Dream Performance. James was one of many trainers I can always count on. His knowledge, training skills, and life coaching is amazing and I am glad to have met a person like him. James stopped me in the gym on day and said, “ hey, Im proud of you. I am a fan of your journey and I am happy to see you continuing the lifestyle.” That really put a smile on my face and to hear that from him gave me more motivation to keep going! James have allowed me to teach and instruct dance classes wherever he lands and I thank him for the support!
