We had the good fortune of connecting with Surya Nycole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Surya, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
This is a GREAT question! When you go into business for yourself, this is defiantly the first question you should ask. While I have evolved in the decade of my writing, and enjoyed many opportunities to collaborate with others, my end goal of helping others enjoy the freedom of healing has never changed. I am consciously aware of the positions I am in and how they will effect me and my goals. This has allowed me to gain certifications to better my understanding of trauma and healing of the mind, body and soul. It has not only helped me professionally but personally. My writing comes from personal experience in experiencing trauma as well as healing. At one point I had lost my voice due to the effects of silence trauma leaves us with. As I began to focus on my healing, I gained my voice back. I speak up not only for myself, but those who are trapped in traumatic environments as well as stuck in a mind trying to heal from the trauma they experienced. When I pass on, is when my career will end. Surviving trauma makes for the most difficult life and I will be speaking up and advocating for survivor’s till my day comes to rest. I have been honored to help others all over the world, over this last decade, I look forward to helping many more. By being a voice for others, I allow others to get their voice back, to receive love and healing, worthiness and compassion and in turn, they are able to pass on love, healing, worthiness and compassion. They become loud again and able to stand up against abuse. They, like me, are making changes not only for their life but for generations to come. While focusing on healing is imperative, we must also address the reasons why someone needs to heal and that is trauma, be it from generational traumas, external traumas such as bullying, rape, murder, military, etc. When we begin to get to the root issues, we can dig up what is suffocating our society and break those cycles that have no other purpose than destruction. Making our Mental Health a priority, has lasting effects, and detours us from paths that hurt ourself and others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got to where I am at today solely from passion. I am utterly passionate about healing and surviving while you are healing as well as speaking out about those who cause trauma. I want to make this clear, not everyone who is traumatized lives a life of traumatizing others. However the fact is, those people actually also were traumatized at some point. They decided not to heal and are causing trauma to themselves and others as a result. This is why my passion is always on fire to break the cycle of trauma, helping others heal and feel validated while they heal. The challenges I face with my passion has been refined over the years. I’m not able to help everyone and not everyone wants help, I have learned to discern that while there is a beautiful soul in everyone, that till they are actually committed to not abusing others, they can not receive help. It’s honestly heartbreaking to watch. But I am called to meet those where they are at for a moment, not forever. I believe that my brand Surya Nycole really speaks for itself, especially since my work is about doing just that, speaking up, however I would want everyone to know, that the tone in which you read my woke with, should be one of compassion and truth, that I genuinely care for you and your healing. While some of my writing may come off blunt or hard to comprehend, I refuse to sugar coat the reality of how important your life is and the impact that you make on others. Living through the trauma is one thing, living through the healing of the trauma is a life long responsibility and I am here for you to keep growing!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being from DFW there is just so many things to do! Personally, I love the Ft. Worth side. Walking around Down Town Ft. Worth and enjoying coffee in Sundance Square, seeing the magic of the Water Gardens at night and catching dinner at any of the wonderful restaurants is a wonderful day! The Ft. Worth Stock Yards are incredible and the boutiques are my favorite! My son and nephews love seeing the cattle movement and mini Cowboy shows they put on through out the day. Other than that, sit by the pool, enjoy the heat and sun and clear blue sky. Take in the slow pace life of a Texan and make some friends and enjoy your family!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s a common theme to not need anyone, but that is a lie. We need one another, we need support in good and bad times, we need one another to share our feelings and healing. It’s impossible to get through life alone. Personally, I would like to recognize my son. When I became pregnant, I put my healing into overdrive! I knew I was healing from my trauma and I refused to pass on trauma to him. His life defiantly saved mine. I am also involved with ThePhoenix.org, we are a sober community that supports mental health and we break the stigmas mental health and addiction have. I have met incredible people who have the same goals of growth and healing. They have forever changed my life! I would also like to recognize my friends with This Pink Cloud podcast. Their openness in talking about their addictions and giving others, including myself, a way to share their experiences and healing is phenomenal! My therapist, who allows me to feel what I feel. She helps me process my trauma, and encourages me on my healing path! With all that said, I would lastly like to recognize those, over my life, who have given me the space and courage to be myself, who have loved and helped me though my worst times. Those on the social media platforms, I would like to thank for in their out reach and honesty. they have validated my experiences, my trauma and my healing through their courage and passion.
