We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Turek and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Oh man were do I begin, ever since I was little I’ve always been fascinated with cameras both stills and video.
I have very fond memories of owning a disposable camera taking photos of life and everything around me and you only have 30 opportunities’ to forever freeze those memories and cannot review them until they have been developed.
On the video side of the spectrum I was very fortunate to start my journey with digital video cameras making goofy home videos with my older brother trying new camera tricks and documenting my life growing up.

I know it seems like I’m rambling but please bear with me, fast forward to Dec of 2008 was when I choose to be serious with photography and videography is when I was gifted the Nikon D90 with two lenses, it was the very first hybrid camera of its time. I learned how to use photoshop and I purchased so many UK photography magazine’s unlike the US versions they taught me manual settings on a camera and proper shutter speed to freeze motion or blur it for a creative look.

I wanted to become a Fashion Portrait photographer with an occasional wedding and engagement session thrown in there from time to time.

I have documented a few weddings and engagement sessions, shot a lot of editorial e-commerce fashion shoots. I have been published a couple of times and was a lead photographer for a local magazine started by models.

So for the longest time Photography was a side hustle for me or a “Hobby” I was always told to keep my day job and have fun with your hobby don’t make it your career. And I did this to the tune of 21 years as an Automotive Detailer for major car Brands it was a great safety net, it wasn’t until the later part of my career that my passion to start my own photography videography business was set a blaze and NTX Pro Photo was born. In 2018 unfortunately life threw a lot of road blocks in the pursuit and effort to start my dream and passion.

From 2018 up until late 2024 my plans to start my business were yet again put on hold, at my last employer I worked for I noticed they were outsourcing a lot of content creation to help market their custom vehicles and the idea for me to transition my business model and start creating automotive car content in the DFW metroplex for both Video and stills was born.

I was laid off from that job and as I’m writing this on 8-15-25 will mark one year to the day that the clock started for my pursuit to chase my passion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others oh wow this can be a tough one to answer, well for me and from the feed back I’ve had received from clients and friends is my vision in my photos and videos always tells a story and builds emotion’s. Almost as if your watching a short film or stills from that film, I always strive to evoke a deep emotion with my captive audience even if that’s the first ten seconds into a video recap on social media or images from a particular moment at a wedding. I always try to stir the soul and if my client has eyes filled with tears from a particular memory from that once in a life time event I’ve definitely succeeded.

I’ve had a countless amount of road blocks along this journey, in a years time I had the unfortunate experience of gate keepers in the automotive / car show scene and what I’m most proud of at this current time in my business is that I’ve over come all of these obstacles with some amazing friends and allies in this industry and growing deep roots into this community, what I’m most excited about is one of the largest custom car and truck events in Dallas Fort Worth Is upon the horizon. A good friend of mine a mobile detailer by the name of Flip Mode Mobile Detail made some arraignments for me to attend with a media pass to create video content for him and the event promoters.

I’ve gotten where I’m today by not giving up having an amazing support system, leaning hard on my faith and hustling not being afraid of being told no and always asking for opportunities because at the end of the day your success is not going to just automatically happen without long hours late nights long hot shifts out in the Texas sun with thirty five pounds of equipment filming amazing scenes of cars trucks and anything on wheels.

Has it been easy not at all my whole mission is to help detailer’s tell their story’s and showcase their services. I’m the behind the scenes guy so they can focus on the job/jobs there being paid to complete in a timely manner.
so the service I’m offering is to allow the client to focus on their task at hand. while I capture their entire process from start to finish in both video and photo format.

My services will help detailers save time in their content creation process so there brand can rise up and help market them to their clients. But the difficult tasks is trying to convince them to hire me for my services where it seems more like a luxury then a service but I’m confident and slowly making progress and it helps with my knowledge and experience in the industry to help drive that point home.

Lessons I’ve learned along the way be careful who you recommend as a reference always stay loyal and faithful to the people and business that have helped carry you and them through the growing pains and never forgot them when in need you’ll be surprised on how far and above and beyond some will go to help you be successful and always return that favor and stay on good terms.

So I’m a gear head at heart and I absolutely love and enjoy meeting all types of car owners and getting the amazing opportunity to film and photograph their amazing machines it definitely awakens my inner teen self when the fast and furious first came to the big screen. This also goes to the performance and wrap detail shops and their owners I try to showcase every aspect of the automotive world.
and I’m not sponsored but I’m a very small percentage in this automotive world that shoots on Fujifilm both stills and video.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well we would definitely have to hit a few of my favorite bbq related stops. One place that comes to mind is Derby Restaurant In Dallas with a brisket grilled cheese and admire the amazing car collection while enjoying some amazing food and drinks. Dinner would have to be at Muchacho tex-mex in Southlake town square their brisket taquitos are to die for and their legendary margarita’s are in a class of their own.
Morning we would have to pick up some brisket breakfast tacos at my favorite bbq joint Rudy’s in Fort Worth then grab a pizza for lunch at Palio’s pizza cafe in grapevine and go watch planes at DFW airport at their view point. We would end the day at the toy car museum in Forth Worth watching the most amazing vehicles in automotive history.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ohhh yes! you’ve got to have a shoutout section, I would not be were I’m today if it was not for staying strong in my faith in the lord guiding me through this entire process and trusting him for every decision I make and the love and support from my church.

My incredible wife she has been an absolute pillar in my life and through out my career path she has always supported me she has seen me at my absolute lowest to the point of wanting to end my dream and sell everything and fall back on my safety net. She has always encouraged me to shift my mindset and continue my pursuit and passion of my dream business.

My amazing Mom she’s has always supported my dream and my art, she has always stood up for me when others would not see my vision or pursuit and passion for the art of photography and videography turning my hobby into a business.

And Finally Erin and her husband Jon at the refinery detail supply house in both NRH and Prosper. My journey from the past year has been a very rough ride with a lot of “no’s” or “your rates or to high” or the classic “I’ll let you know” not one time has this ever been an issue or a situation for them and they have helped me connect my vision to the automotive community helping introducing me to connections in the detail industry, car show scene and they also trust my creative vision to represent their company and their brand, they have also been an amazing catalyst in my journey and also close friend’s of mine from this experience.
Thank you guys for the never ending support and congratulations on your hidden gems interview so excited for you!!
