We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Rodgers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steve, what matters most to you?
Being a photographer I believe making my client comfortable is very important. Being in front of a camera can be a vulnerable position. I like to have fun with my clients during photoshoots and event to make sure they enjoy the experience. These photos are moments they will cherish for lifetime and I want them remember having a good time.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’d like to believe that the experience my clients have with me is what sets me apart. I love what I do, and want my clients to have just as much fun as I’m having. Building relationships with my clients and networking with other professionals in the business is how i’ve been able to continue to learn and grow. One of the challenges I’ve faced is the business side of photography. The things thats needed before and after the photoshoots. Marketing, editing, travel, maintaining equipment, social media are just a few things needed to be sucessful. Being patient, disciplined, and consistently learning is how continue to move forward in doing what I enjoy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we gotta eat, and there’s nothing better than some good BBQ, and Dallas has many places to chose from. Terry Black’s Barbecue, Smokey John’s Barbecue, and Off the Bone Barbecue just to name a few. Next we head to Deep Ellum for some good music and drinks, and my favorite place is the Free Man Cafe and lounge. So many great bands perform there and the vibe is always great. Last but but not least, we’re heading to Arlington to help cheer on my favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. The atmosphere at the AT&T stadium is absolutely amazing! There are so many things to do here, you cant lose whatever you do!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people in my life that motivate and inspire me. It begins with my wife, Takenya. She bought my first camera for me as a gift, not knowing that this would be something that I would grow to love. She continues to encourage me to grow and be great. I also the the love and support from my family, with a special shout out to my sister Christina. I don’t think i have a bigger cheerleader than her. I am also inspired so many talented photographers here in the DFW area. Kory Williams, Paul Williams, and Eric Brinkley Sr., just to name a few. I truly love the creative community here in Dallas.
