We had the good fortune of connecting with Staci Seaman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Staci, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was to offer others a chance to enjoy cute staged setups at an affordable price for photo opportunities of their children. They are only little once, and pictures are something that will last us a lifetime.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always been passionate about photography. My son inspired me to become a full-time photographer almost 12 years ago. I lost all of my clientele I had built up over the years from back home when we moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area 5+ years ago, and starting over in such a large city with such high competition was daunting. Until 2019, I didn’t pick up my camera, instead using my cell phone for fun portraits when I wanted some of my children. As they grew, I started setting up my own photo shoots in the bedroom, which eventually led me to the garage and getting back into photography. After awhile, I thought what if I rented my setups out and offered my space to others to use who may not be able to afford a photographer for pictures. It would be great to make some extra money or even to have my own hobby paid for while staying at home with my kids! In February 2022, I opened my business, Sweet Pea Studio, and it has been such an incredible success. In addition to staging setups for the holidays, I have over 40+ backdrop choices to choose from when I rent the studio personally. There have been many great people I’ve met, some of whom are now good friends. Having my own business is more than a dream come true. I am looking forward to what my business has in store for the future.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a tough one! As a stay-at-home type of person, I don’t venture out much. Mexican food and margaritas at Lupe Tortilla would definitely be my choice for eating/drinking. Perhaps we would do something like Main Event, or we might just chill on our patio and drink margaritas while the kids could run around and play!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My amazing family deserves all the credit! I am very fortunate to have my husband as a supporter and someone who has contributed to making my dreams a reality! I owe my success in part to my parents and sister. They have not only supported me but helped me take care of our children so I could dedicate myself to my business. Additionally, a shout out to my adorable kids for modeling and helping me get my business started!
