Meet Spencer Yang | Actor & Social Media Influencer/Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Spencer Yang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Spencer, what is the most important factor behind your success?
When I think about my success, I’d say my biggest accomplishments have been with my social media accounts. I’ve found that two main things have been key to that success: consistency and brand awareness. These are the things that really help you build a long-term, sustainable career. Sure, going viral and getting a lot of views is a great start, but the real challenge comes after that. The hard part is getting those people who watched your content to come back for more.
To make that happen, you need to know what your brand is all about: what message you’re sending and what kind of value you’re offering to people. When you have that figured out, it’s easier to create content that people actually want to see. But even with great content, consistency is what really keeps everything going. It’s not always easy to keep posting regularly, but the more consistent you are, the more the algorithm takes notice. When that happens, your content starts getting shared with not only your followers but also with people who may not know about you yet.
These two things, staying consistent and knowing your brand, are really what determine whether or not you’ll make it in this industry. Without them, even the best content can get lost in the crowd. So, if you can master both, you’ll have a much better shot at building something that lasts.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What keeps me busy professionally is my passion for acting and my ongoing drive to grow and refine my craft. At the core of everything I do, I’m an actor. I’ve been pursuing acting for 11 years now, and over that time, there have been plenty of struggles along with successes. I initially got into acting because, at that point in my life, I didn’t like who I was. I was shy, reserved, and, to top it all off, I was one of the few Asian kids in a predominantly white area. This created a lot of identity struggles and led to bullying during my youth. Acting became a way for me to escape, to be someone else, to transform into someone with confidence and a sense of belonging.
As I continued to pursue acting, however, my reasons for doing it began to shift. The more I learned, the more I found myself drawn to telling stories, especially stories that involved characters who might otherwise be overlooked or ignored. It became less about escaping and more about using the art of storytelling to connect with people and share experiences. As I grew in the craft, I also began to realize something deeply important: to give my best performances, I needed to be vulnerable, to truly understand myself. This was the turning point for me. I had to learn to embrace my own flaws, imperfections, and the parts of myself that made me human. In doing so, I found a new sense of self-acceptance and confidence.
This newfound confidence also played a huge role in my decision to continue a TikTok account that a friend had encouraged me to start over. What began as a simple platform to share some creative ideas quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, I have 1.1 million followers, and I use my TikTok not only to showcase my acting skills but also to share my creativity and personal journey. This platform has opened up a world of exciting opportunities, from collaborations with various brands to invitations to social media events. It’s been a great way for me to promote creativity, engage with a larger community, and, most importantly, keep growing within my craft.
Moving forward, I’m committed to continuing to use my social media presence to not only share my acting but also to encourage others to embrace their creativity and pursue their passions. My journey is far from over, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend coming to visit the DFW area, the first thing I’d do is take them to explore the amazing museums in Dallas and Fort Worth. I’ve always been a huge fan of museums, and the ones around here never disappoint. One of my top picks would definitely be the Fort Worth Science Museum, which has a special place in my heart. They have an incredible IMAX dome theater, and I used to visit it all the time as a kid. The immersive experience is something I still remember fondly. My next pick would be, the Dallas Museum of Modern Art. This museum has an amazing collection of contemporary art, and the best part is that it’s free to visit! It’s a great spot to appreciate some incredible pieces while also being able to walk around and take in the city. And finally there’s alway the Perot Museum in Dallas, which is one of the coolest interactive museums I’ve ever been to. It’s hands on, educational, and perfect for people of all ages.
When we’re done exploring the museums, I’d definitely want to visit a few local parks. One of my favorites is Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, which is pretty unique. It’s actually built right over a highway! The park has a great vibe, with food trucks lining the area, and they often host special events like live music or movie nights. It’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the local culture.
Next I would definitely be hitting up a couple of shopping spots, and the perfect place to go would be The Galleria in Dallas. It’s an amazing shopping mall, not only for the high end stores but also because it has an amazing ice rink right in the middle of this four stories shopping mall. We could hang out, shop, and enjoy the atmosphere for a while.
I’m also a big fan of ghost hunting, so I’d make sure we check out some haunted spots or abandoned places nearby, like the Fort Worth silos. There’s something thrilling about trying to connect with the past in these mysterious locations. It’s one of my favorite ways to explore the area’s history.
Lastly, I’d make sure to do some sightseeing in DFW’s most iconic locations. One spot I wouldn’t miss is the Dallas Ball, a landmark that represents the city’s skyline. Whether it’s catching the view from the top or snapping a picture, it’s one of those must see spots that really shows off the city.
There are so many amazing things to do in the DFW area, and these are just some of the highlights that come to mind. Whether you’re into history, culture, nature, or a little bit of adventure, this area has something for everyone.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely I wouldn’t be where I’m at without the support of my family and friends, especially everyone at Michill Entertainment.
