Meet Sowande Crews | Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sowande Crews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sowande, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
Breaking the chains of psychological slavery by Na’im Akbar. This book changed my perspective on being a black person in America. How I needed to strategize in order to break generational curses, create better habits and make sure my lineage would be free from the same disadvantages I faced.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a UX Specialist and consultant, currently attending PVAMU. I learned how to make a decision and live with it. Just making the decision is one part of the decision. The second part is living with especially if it was a bad decision. I would like for everyone that comes in contact with me or my brand to understand life is a work in progress. That also means you are a work in progress and don’t ever give up.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in Dallas is creators don’t die. They have some of the craziest parties. I’ve had some of my best night life experiences there.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout Joppa Environmental Health Project. For the work they’re doing for their community.
