We had the good fortune of connecting with Souliyanh Joshua Sangvone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Souliyanh Joshua, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Honestly it was really tough finding out what my career was? . When i became a Dj it started as a hobby . What my dream was to be a professional dancer . I loved that how each cultural dance was a way of art . The emotion’s , the motivation , the story telling , It just amazed me . What i also love is music ! How it can be very therapeutic! Just enjoying yourself being able to connect with it and with others . So when i started Dj is able to put two together! Music and dancing ! Being able to create a canvas of your own ! Witnessing the fluidity of the crowd just vibing . Such an amazing feeling!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m really proud of my growth , what my challenges were being able to balance everything and have a healthy mindset . So I’m known as “ the Jack of all trades “ I Dj , Hair industry, bartend a restaurant, now starting content creator! Honestly doing all this wasn’t easy ! Why do i do all of this ? I just love learning new things and networking ! But For me i had to take time and journal and ask myself what do i really want to do ? Whats. More important? I had to think what in my mind is therapeutic ?

When i Dj i enjoy bringing the crowd together . I’m Lao and my first name is Souliyanh and in translation it means Sunshine ! So i chose that name as my Dj name ! But meaning to that i believe that I’m a human form of a sunshine . I bring happiness to people , i manage to help people remember what life is about . Yes we party , but deeply down we’re staying in the present . We’re enjoying life as we’re supposed to ! Creating the bond and memories that we need to do in life !

As for hairstylist ! Everyone knows a salon is everyone safe home . It’s like honestly a free therapist . But what i love about doing hair ! Is able to help the client remember they are beautiful inside and out . Letting them know you’re feeling is valid and you are human . It’s a beautiful feeling clients walk out the salon feeling like a new person ! You can see the confidence as they get up from the chair . I enjoy it so much

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely take them to my favorite places to eat ! You can’t go wrong with Korean Bbq and Hot pot ! Ari Korean bbq or Seapot Hot pot ! One of the most popular Asian restaurants!

When it comes to music ! My favorite genre either be Afrobeats , Ampiano , House music ! Green light social has nice Rooftop bars ! Really good music ! For me I Dj at Bottle blonde dallas roof top and we bring out R&B music ! The best vibe and ambiance !

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Obviously shoutout to my mother ! Number one strong person that i know ! We’ve had a tough past moving state to state ! Always pushing me to always grow but more importantly to be a genuine good person in this world .

As for my career started at Ampersand in Fort Worth ! For giving me the opportunities to show who is Dj sunshine! The support from the owners Michael Ferrari & Vubus Ly giving me motivation and believing me what i can do ! Sincerely grateful for these two ! Huge mentors in my life ! Another Shoutout to my Roomate aka Dj Deja ! Been in the industry for many years ! He’s taught me from beginning until now ! Showing the ropes of being a great Dj and how to succeed to become better ! His girlfriend Nina khan just helping me grow as a person and doing better !

Dirty Haus is a place to go , the owner Diana dao . True artist and the best mentor in the beauty industry! Couldn’t ask for a better teacher! Truly proud of her growth and new beginnings!
