In the midst of the fervent civil rights movements and heightened racial tensions, my family’s history is punctuated by the remarkable story of entrepreneurship. Ophelia Rose Frank, my grandmother was a woman of unwavering strength and entrepreneurial spirit. Her legacy serves as a guiding light, reminding me of the power of resilience and community in the face of adversity.

As I reflect on her life, I am reminded of the beauty shop she established during those challenging times. It was more than just a place for hairstyling; it was a haven on the side of her home where women came to refresh themselves.

My grandmother’s entrepreneurial spirit extended to running a convenience store alongside my grandfather. This store wasn’t just a business endeavor, but a source of essential goods and a symbol of stability when uncertainty loomed large.

One of my grandparent’s most inspiring endeavors was the annual Louisiana trail ride that they organized. Despite the racial tensions that surrounded us, she believed in the power of culture and community to transcend these divides. Through this event, creole people were united by a shared heritage and a common celebration of life.

My grandmother’s journey wasn’t just about entrepreneurship; it was a beacon of hope and a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Her actions were a quiet revolution and a force for positive change.

As I navigate my own journey as an entrepreneur and realtor, I am guided by her example.
