We had the good fortune of connecting with Simaria Solis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Simaria, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I think the single greatest habit to success is to keep showing up. Day in Day out even when you don’t feel like it or you’re tired. Even when it seems no-one is paying attention you just keeping doing the things you know that drive success. Success doesn’t just come from one action it’s all the little actions when noone is looking. All the habits you do that pull you away from your goals or ultimately push you towards your goals. The Devil is in the details and nothing is too small to overlook.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Business is unique in that we are not just a salon. That can be so limiting to both the artist and the clients. We push ourselves creatively in Makeup, Wardrobe, Photography and Social Media Branding. WE give ourselves space outside of hair to grow. We come up with ideas and aren’t afraid to our our ideas out there, and to be more than just hair stylists. I never want to pigeon hole ourselves or be stifled in creativity. I believe the traditional salon business model is changing and the days of cycling through tons of people with no connection is not how people want to connect. When we are engaged, happy, and growing the energy is contagious and people look forward to seeing what new ideas are in the pipelines. We also bring a big focus on education, not just for the artist but for the client. How can we make the connection between what we do and what can be achieved at home.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Downtown Grapevine theres always so many great local shops and winery’s. I would take them to the lake and to the olive oil company in downtown grapevine. I would walk through all the shops and touch and taste the local flair. I would of course take them to the salon for a blow out and then to Southlake town square to the great restaurants and shops there!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Every person who has come my way good or bad has a hand in creating me. Some for the knowledge of knowing what not to to do when given the opportunity. Some in how to show grace even when you’re stressed or struggling. How to manage your emotions etc. I learn so much as well from my clients they share their lives with me and I am a sponge gaining insight into whats “normal” and what might be coming in the future. They have been the most instrumental in giving me something to look forward to every 4-6 weeks to pick their brain and share in there story.
