We had the good fortune of connecting with Sid Abbas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sid, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Passion and drive. That’s all there is to it. As long as you have those going for you, never give up! If you are still 100% passionate about what you are trying to achieve, you can NOT quit. If things aren’t working out you, might have to make some adjustments/take a different approach. But that’s fine! It’s all part of the process. However, if you feel that fire inside you start to burnout, it might be time to try something new. Figuring that out can be tricky though! Are you losing your passion or are you just discouraged? You have to dig deep and figure that out… Just know, if thinking about reaching this goal actively excites you… you better keep going!

What should our readers know about your business?
Like Abbas Fitness is my baby. It’s constantly growing and has a lot to learn. Not to say I’m not proud of how far we’ve come… Obviously there’s tons of fitness experts/trainers out there (everyone seems to be one nowadays). But what I can promise you that most others can’t is one thing (trigger warning)… Integrity. Trainers will fill your head with whatever BS they need to to keep you coming back. I have a no BS approach. I teach you how simple and (actually) fun fitness can be. Most importantly I train you to be self sufficient. I train you to NOT need me. That’s the embodiment Like Abbas Fitness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week?… not long enough… I LOVE my city. But for purposes of being realistic, I’ll just stick with Fort Worth. Dallas is for another time… First off we’d hit Magnolia street (kind of bias because that’s where I live). This area just keeps growing and has so many amazing restaurants and bars. Maggie’s RnR is a great outdoor restaurant/bar with live music on the weekends. After we get a good buzz going and start feeling that party energy, we’ll head to West 7th street for the night life. There’s too many bars out there to name, so I recommend just hopping around and trying as many as you can! The next day we’d go to an area that has been absolutely exploding recently, South Main St. Grab some craft beer at Hop Fusion. Then lastly, we’d head to Sundance Square for a little more class. So many nice restaurants and one of the coolest places is an underground jazz lounge, Scatt Jazz Lounge… I could go on for way too long on this subject, so we’ll just stop there… oh and the Stockyards!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Have you ever had a boyfriend/girlfriend/any kind of significant other? If so, you PROBABLY haven’t had one like, Brooke Blakeslee. And if you have, you’re one lucky son of a biscuit… In all seriousness though, as cliché as it sounds, I HAVE to give credit to my beautiful girlfriend, Brooke. I would not have made anywhere near the amount of progress I’ve made if it wasn’t for her. Her constant support and encouragement (especially when I’m doubting myself) is unmatched by anyone else in my life. Not to mention, all her hands on work. She’s pretty much my unofficial photographer/videographer… Thanks for everything! I love you mucho!
