We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherita Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherita, how does your business help the community?
My business, The Flores Collective, is deeply rooted in healing, storytelling, and community transformation. Through books, workshops, and initiatives like Little Blossoms Boutique and Unwinged, I create safe spaces for women and youth especially those who’ve experienced grief, trauma, or self-doubt to feel seen, heard, and empowered.

We support underserved families, celebrate young girls who’ve never had the chance to feel beautiful, and use storytelling as a way to break generational cycles. My mission is not just to inspire, but to restore. Every offering is designed to plant seeds of self-worth, faith, and forward movement in both local neighborhoods and online communities across the world.

I believe when you heal a heart, you shift a generation. That’s what we’re doing, one story and one soul at a time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has been anything but easy but it’s been worth every moment. I currently work as a property manager for a nonprofit organization, and what sets me apart is that I lead with heart. I don’t just manage properties .I pour into people. I believe in building communities, not just buildings.

What I’m most proud of is how I’ve turned pain into purpose. I’ve overcome deep personal loss, depression, divorce, and moments where I didn’t know if I could keep going — yet here I am, still showing up. Still rising. Still helping others find stability and dignity in their lives.

Professionally, I’ve grown from surviving to thriving. I’ve secured long-term employment, earned trust from my leadership team, and continue to be a go-to advocate for residents who need more than a lease they need someone who cares.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned? You don’t have to be perfect to be powerful. You just have to be present. I want the world to know that behind every position I’ve held is a story and through that story, I’ve found my strength.

I am Sherita Flores, and my work is a ministry. It’s not just what I do it’s who I am.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting DFW for a week, I would make sure every moment was full of beauty, soul, and good food — the kind of week that feeds your spirit and your belly!

Day 1: We’d start with brunch at The Biscuit Bar in Fort Worth — it’s fun, flavorful, and has the perfect Southern charm. Then we’d stroll through The Fort Worth Water Gardens or hit up Klyde Warren Park in Dallas for food trucks and sunshine.

Day 2: We’d do a little self-care — maybe a spa day at Woodhouse Spa or massages and mimosas. That night, we’d catch live jazz at Scat Lounge or go hear Dez on the Sax play if he’s in town!

Day 3: Time for art and culture! I’d take them to The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth or the African American Museum of Dallas — depending on what speaks to our soul that day.

Day 4: Shopping at The Shops at Clearfork or Legacy West, and later a sunset dinner at Del Frisco’s Grille or Gemelle, where the food and the views are top-tier!

Day 5: We’d get dressed up and do a little vision board café date — because that’s what healing girls do — probably at a cute spot like La La Land Kind Café or Sip Stir.

Day 6: A faith-filled, peaceful Sunday. Church in the morning, maybe at The Potter’s House or somewhere spirit-led, followed by slow music, slow food, and slow joy. Maybe a walk through the Dallas Arboretum.

Day 7: Chill, reflect, and journal over breakfast at home, then a quick stop at a local bookstore or black-owned boutique before taking them to the airport with hearts full.

Everywhere we go, we’d take pictures, laugh loud, and speak life into each other. Because Dallas-Fort Worth isn’t just a place it’s a vibe when you make it yours

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my late father and grandmother, who laid the foundation for the strength I walk in today. Their love, guidance, and example taught me what resilience looks like in the face of loss.

To my husband Gabriel — thank you for seeing me, loving me, and reminding me of the woman I prayed to become. You’ve been my safe place, my answered prayer, and a reflection of God’s grace in human form.

To my children — Adrial, Adrion, and Saniya — you are my why. You gave me the strength to heal and the courage to keep becoming.

And to my best friends, Sennika and Tarnesia, thank you for always holding me up when I felt like falling apart. You’ve been more than friends — you’ve been divine sisters.

Lastly, to God — thank You for rewriting my story with grace, love, and unexpected beauty.
