We had the good fortune of connecting with Shayla Dunlap and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shayla, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by the ability to make people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. There is something incredibly rewarding about uplifting others and enhancing their self-esteem. Whether through my work, personal interactions, or creative expression, I find joy in helping individuals recognize and celebrate their unique beauty. This passion drives me to continually improve my skills and find new ways to bring out the best in others.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As the co-CEO and co-founder of Clinic Concierge, I am proud to lead a business that is woman-founded and dedicated to providing convenience for mothers in Dallas. Since our inception, we have expanded our services to Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin, with aspirations to grow into multiple cities and states in the coming years.
What truly sets us apart is our commitment to personalized care. I invest significant time in training my employees to deliver a level of service that goes beyond traditional methods taught in school. I take particular pride in my team, especially our city captains, who are responsible for leading their teams, managing schedules, and driving business development. It brings me immense joy to help cultivate the inner leader within each of them.
My journey in building this business has been fueled by hard work—literally blood, sweat, and tears. I consider myself a workaholic, but I also find that my most creative ideas emerge when I take a moment to pause and reflect. I believe that true talent is often forged in silence. To overcome the challenges I face, I make it a priority to reserve 30 minutes each day to sit down, brainstorm, and strategize on how to improve and grow our business. This practice requires both discipline and creativity, especially amidst the constant influx of emails and requests that demand my attention.
Throughout this journey, I have learned invaluable lessons, one of the most important being the necessity of surrounding myself with individuals who excel in areas where I may not be as strong. This collaborative approach has greatly enhanced our team’s effectiveness.
I want the world to know that I am deeply passionate about my work. I am committed to the fields of business, wellness, and beauty, and I take pride in the impact that Clinic Concierge has on our clients and community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Dallas, I would ensure they had an unforgettable experience starting with a relaxing massage at The Crescent Hotel. After that, we would head to Ascension Coffee to enjoy a lavender latte and a delightful breakfast.
Next, we would make our way to Highland Park Village for some shopping, followed by a lovely lunch at Bird Bakery. Afterward, we would likely stop by my house to freshen up for the evening. I would take the opportunity to introduce her to some of my favorite Skinbetter skincare products before we get ready for our night out.
For dinner, we would enjoy a meal at Javier’s, where we could indulge in a few skinny margaritas.
If my friend were staying for a week, we would plan an exciting outing to Frisco, starting with a fun ride on a Fetii bus. Our day would kick off at Mi Cocina, where we would enjoy some delicious Tex-Mex cuisine before heading to the Game Show Experience with our friends for some interactive fun.
Throughout the week, we would also make sure to dine at Royal China and Noona, along with several of the Lombardi restaurants. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the Lombardi restaurants, and he is truly a wonderful person. The combination of exceptional food, inviting ambiance, and great company would make each day memorable.
During her week-long stay, we would definitely carve out some time for shopping, perhaps starting with makeup products like Colorescience SPF makeup, which I love for its skincare benefits. We could also head to NorthPark Center to explore both Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. A highlight of our shopping excursion would undoubtedly be lunch at the Mermaid Bar inside Neiman Marcus. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy delicious food, and recharge before we continue our shopping adventure. This combination of beauty, fashion, and great dining would make for a delightful day!
With so many fantastic dining experiences and activities planned, it would be the perfect week filled with laughter, delicious meals, and unforgettable moments in Dallas!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The most important factor behind my success has been the unwavering support of a private equity group that has played a pivotal role in helping me turn my dreams into reality. Their belief in my vision and commitment to providing the necessary resources have been instrumental in my journey.
I would also like to highlight the significant influence of Hunter at Skylark. His motivation and generosity have been incredibly inspiring, and he has consistently encouraged me to strive for excellence. Hunter’s exceptional business acumen and strategic insights have not only guided my decisions but have also empowered me to navigate challenges with confidence. His mentorship has been invaluable, and I truly appreciate the role he has played in my success.
