We had the good fortune of connecting with Shauna Glenn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shauna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’m not sure there was a lot of thought put into starting my own business. It kind of happened by accident. We were building our house and I started posting it on Instagram. People (locally) began messaging me, asking me to help style shelves, etc., so I did. Then it grew to helping style rooms and entire homes. And voila! Shauna Glenn Design was born. I’m tired.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think my use of color sets me apart from other designers. We’ve seen the gray/white/neutral palette and while the backdrop of my designs stay neutral, it’s then a color explosion. Layering pattern on pattern is my way of breathing life into a space. I’m most excited about how we’ve been able to expand our work to E-Design, servicing clients in all 50 states. It’s a little harder not actually being in the space (which helps get the feel for the space, making it easier to come up with a plan) but knowing we’re spreading the color gospel across America is very fulfilling. Yay for technology!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
We’d start out at the Museum of Modern Art, followed by lunch and margaritas at my favorite Mexican food restaurant, Mi Cocina, and ending it with a comedy show at Four Day Weekend or drinks at Thompson’s speakeasy.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my mentor, Juan Castro, for teaching me so many things about interior design.
