We had the good fortune of connecting with Shartesia Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shartesia, how do you think about risk?
I think risk are well needed in life . No matter if you are a entrepreneur or working for someone else. I mean if you don’t take risk you will never know the outcome. Since I’ve started my own business I been taking risks . Some risk were good and some were bad . However overtime I grown to learn that it’s the best way to live life so that there are never any unanswered questions . Overall , taking risks has got me far in life . I have a stable career as a loan officer and I manage my own business on the side . I would say for anyone that is too afraid to jump off the cliff I would encourage them to just DO IT !

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work as a professional loan officer at Numark credit union . I would like to say that my journey to be a loan officer was not an easy one . I worked tirelessly at my previous job as an underpaid loan officer that just wanted some recognition for my talents . I worked day and night for years until I came upon a post on Facebook that would change my life . My co worker at my previous job posted on Facebook that he got hired at Numark credit union and that they were still looking for one more person. Right there I knew that was my opportunity of a lifetime ! Higher pay and better hours . I instantly applied when I found out and got hired 3 weeks later . The hiring process was crucial but what set me apart from the other applicants is that I am humble , motivated , and always willing to learn new things . Also , I learned that before you begin an interview always study what the company is about and why the brand was created . More so , on the entrepreneur side of things I would like the world to know that Love2slayboutique is a small business that will grow in the years to come . Not only do I own a website that sells clothes but I also have an ebook out right now that customers can buy to help them start their own small businesses up ! I started my business back in 2016 and my company has been growing since . I recently participated in the Black Women’s Expo in Chicago that helped gain exposure to the company . More so, the end goal for Love2slayboutique is to sell clothes online and help small businesses grow .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friend comes in town to visit, we love to go to Persona (night club). That’s like the first place we think of when she comes in town . They have AMAZING drinks and jerk tacos . We also like to hang out and radio room downtown Chicago they have the best chicken wings there ! I would say the most interesting place to visit downtown Chicago is the Shed Aquarium. The view of the cute little fishes are AWESOME!
