We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharron Christian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharron, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My initial thought process and motivation for starting the Diamonds on the Green organization was to find out if there were other women like me who were interested in learning and playing golf. I hesitated at first, worried that no one would be interested in a sport traditionally dominated by men. Despite my doubts, I decided to take a leap and posted a query on Facebook asking if anyone wanted to learn golf. To my surprise, the response was overwhelming. Six years later, we now have nearly 200 women across various states. My goal was to introduce more women to golf and create a safe, enjoyable environment for them to learn, appreciate the sport and have fun with it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I founded Diamonds on the Green, LLC in 2018 to introduce more women to the game of golf and to have fun with it. Since starting DOTG, I noticed a lot of the women’s husbands and significant others supporting the organization, so I wanted to create something they could be a part of as well. That’s how Gentz on the Green came to be. The brand has become a family affair, and I wanted to create a brand where everyone in your family could be involved. This led to the creation of Emeralds on the Green, my non-profit Youth Golf Program, so the entire family can play golf and have fun together.

On the golf course, you’ll see everyone showcasing their own swag and style. It’s fascinating to see, which inspired me to create Fashion on the Green. This will be showcased at our Annual Golf Weekend event, giving members the opportunity to show off their own golf fashion.

Was it easy or is it easy now? The answer is a resounding NO! Challenges arise daily, and times can be tough. The good thing for me is that I have more supporters than i have thats against me and the organization. Members, mentors, and supporters reach out to keep me motivated and pushing forward. The fact that so many people support and appreciate what I’m doing keeps me going despite the naysayers and negative chatter.

I want people to know that I am creating something that everyone can be a part of, where we can all shine together and have fun.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh wow! I love to eat and visit interesting, laid-back spots. Naturally, a round of golf would be on the agenda. I’d book an early morning tee time at either The Cowboys Golf Course or the Texas Rangers course – I absolutely love both of them. We’d finish around noon. If we play at the Cowboys Golf Course, we’d definitely eat there because they have amazing food – breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus drinks. If we don’t eat there, we’d head to my new favorite spot, Bloom Lounge, for a classy lunch. To top off the night, I’d take them to the Red Phone Booth. It’s a great place to enjoy a nice drink and PSSITA (Put Some Smoke In the Air) with a nice cigar.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am afraid to list names out of fear I may forget someone. So everyone know who you are….I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has stood by me and remained steadfast. I deeply appreciate the invaluable advice and support that has helped elevate my organization to the next level. Thank you to all who continue to pray for and support me on this journey.
