We had the good fortune of connecting with Shandon Guignard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shandon, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued my artistic career simply because corporate was never my thing! Every since I was a teenager I knew I was different and by different I mean creatively artistic! I was the kid with the shaved head on one side and wore different color hair, long before it was popular. Bright lipsticks and shadows, long nails and vibrant clothes. And in a corporate world l, I knew I would not fit in!! So I had to walk in the life of a makeup artist and nail artist , totally befitting!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a licensed professional nail and makeup artist and owner of Flawless Finish Nail & Makeup Studio. I’ve been doing my passion now for 29 years! My salon is a quaint, beautiful, professional place, that offers excellent customer service as well as spot on services! I have worked hard to make my salon a success from continuing education classes to leadership classes. I have an amazing clientele. They are loyal, supportive and have now become family. I am passionate about what I do and the service I provide for people! I believe people come to me because of the relationships that I form, because I make you feel comfortable and the atmosphere is a relaxed environment. You will leave my chair feeling better and even more Flawless than when you walked in.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Oh wow! All of my friends are foodies like myself. We would most likely visit Whistle Britches , Te Deseo ( Mexican my favorite) , Iron Cactus for brunch, Grimaldis Pizza (I LOVE pizza) . I also enjoy music so a visit to Sambuca 360 in Frisco! They have the best live bands and dinner. Might I suggest the Punch Bowl in downtown Dallas then jump across the street and enjoy live music while you eat boudin balls at The Free Man Cajun Cafe, delish! Also in that same area you HAVE to check out Twisted Root the BEST burgers in Dallas! I probably could be here all day with this answer! Lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my mom , Mildred Winstead! She’s the reason why I am who I am and do what do! She pushes me, she prays for me and she is my number one fan! She’s a retired Hairstylist and she literally taught me how to do nails! Thus starting my career …… Thanks mom, you’re phenomenalmazing!
