We had the good fortune of connecting with ShaFonda Bush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ShaFonda, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I had to make was leaving my career and starting a business. At the time, my job title was an Educational Support Staff Member. I loved teaching. I enjoyed my job and being around the students brought joy to my life. Being able to be in a classroom and teaching young children was my dream career.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m currently in the process of building my business. The name of my business is Vintage Blush Sweet Treats. It has always been a passion of mine to create, rather it was arts and crafts, interior design, event designer, etc. Vintage Blush Sweets Treats is what I call my “Happy Place”. I create custom treats for parties, dessert tables, weddings, baby showers and so on. At first, I didn’t think this was a good idea. I thought to myself how can someone be successful by creating treats for a living? I started to do my research and discovered there’s a treat community. There are people out here who are successful in the treat making business Roshell Ingraham, Porsha Kimble, Ashley D., just to name a few. They have inspired me in so many ways. I’m extremely passionate about what I do, every order I receive I consider it special. I enjoy hearing my customers describe to me their visions of how they would like their custom treats and challenge me to execute a plan. So far, I’ve learned that you have to make every customer feel special no matter how big or small their order might be. If you are starting a business and fear is that one thing that’s stopping, you. Take this piece of advice, believe in your brand, remain focused, consistent and determined.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
XOXO dining room for girls’ night out Velvet Taco
12 Cuts Brazilian Steak House
Botanical Garden
Bowl & Barrel
North Park Mall
Hillstone Restaurant

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband Corby Bush Jr. he supported me every step of the way. He trusted my vision and didn’t allow me to give up. He prayed and exercised his faith believing if it’s God’s will, it will happen. My sister Sharonda Williams, I have always been considered as being a creative person, but she pushed me and helped me to step out of my comfort zone. Also, my sister Alyssa Bush, she’s constantly giving me encouragement and motivation. Lastly. my church Greater Harvest Church of God, I’ve received so much support, love, and encouragement. I’m so grateful!
