We had the good fortune of connecting with Sha Lee Hornsby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sha, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I am now a podcaster! This is a new title I am still adjusting to but I am definitely having fun in this new space. The podcasting arena is a very diverse one but there is a common theme. Creativity! I have noticed many podcasts are born to creators of many things and their podcast is just one of many creations. Coming from the corporate world, interacting and learning from creative people is unexpected yet rewarding. The energy is fun and vibrate–loving it!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First off, I am passionate about people and their career opportunities! I’ve spent my entire career in the area of recruiting professionals at all levels, from administrative, technical and engineering roles to executive-level positions. My career started in Staffing. Since then, I’ve spent time recruiting Corporate, Consulting, Diversity and University recruitment—plus recruiting internationally as an expat in the Middle East, where I lived for eight years. In parallel to recruiting is a natural responsibility of advising those as jobseekers and on their career journey.
Along with being a Recruiter, I am a podcaster now. My award-winning podcast, Cool Careers Podcast, highlights specific career paths so others can see a snapshot of a “successful” journey. We see people at their greatness but unsure how they have arrived. Proudly, I have spent my career of 20+ years in the Human Resources/Talent Acquisition Recruiting space. My advice stems from practicality instead of theory which sets me apart from the most.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I feel like I am forever learning about the cool new areas, bars, and places to shop. I love the refreshing charm of Bishop Arts yet I still love classic Los Colinas. My plans would mostly consist of hanging out on a rooftop or outdoor patio around the city!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Cool Careers Podcast was launched Spring 2020. Since then, we have completed two complete seasons and 27 episodes with amazing guests (even some local + well known celebrities), corporate recognition and even an award for Best Business Podcast of 2021! I am truly grateful for what my team and I have accomplished in just two seasons. None of this is possible without choosing the right people traveling with you on an unknown journey. A big shout out goes to the best podcasting team ever: Damion Hypolite (Hype Productions), Rausheyed Rollins (Assurage Technologies) and my Content Creator, Mary Ann Santiago! Thank you for seeing and sharing my vision.
I would like to thank all of my AMAZING guests and podcast followers plus my family and friends for their amazing support. You have made my podcast award-winning!
