We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Fresh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean, what do you attribute your success to?
Faith. I believe in God. I believe in myself and I believe that if I use the talents that I was given and I work hard then God will do the rest. I don’t care about what others are doing. My success is between me and God. It’s personal. I would be lying if I said the process was easy…several times I wanted to quit but He always sends a confirmation through unusual situations to tell me to keep working…keep believing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me a part? Great question. I really don’t know…We all are similar if you truly get to converse with each others…The other thing that is different is opportunities. Either lack of them or the creations of them on my own…I think I just never quit is what makes me different. Challenges is a part of everything so I just keep a positive squad around me and I don’t feed into negativity of any form and I say my goals to those that will hold me accountable and we get to work. The main lesson I have learned is no one cares. Make music for your soul, stay humble and consistent and others will catch up. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? Mane thats a big question. I don’t know if I care if the world knows my story….I want my kids to know that their father was a good man and for them to strive to be better. I want my mother, to know that I love her even when at times I may not show it. I want my brothers to know that I will always have their backs even if we aren’t always around each other. I want my wife to know that she is loved and that I will always love her.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, hmmm…first for breakfast we going to Red Door and getting some french toast then we are going to go and work that off at the boxing gym…StraightRight Boxing and Fitness. After, they stop crying from me putting dems on hands in their life, we prolly go and get some grub from my BFF, Cetera (CC), then come to my crib and watch a movie and talk. I enjoy a simple life.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say my friend, Big Piph (hip-hop artist), deserves most of the credit. He ultimately gave me a platform to perform when I was coming up. I was horrible lol. I was nervous. I was nervous and horrible! We joke about how I used to be flooding on stage but he continued to give me an opportunity. One day, I asked why did he do it…He said it was because I got better every time…If 87% of my show sucked last time, next time it was only 75%! He is encouraged me and gave me pointer and put me in rooms that I didn’t “deserve” to be in. Yay.
