We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Sargent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As early as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to art. As a toddler, I was unstoppable, so much so that my mom finally allowed me to draw on the walls of my closet as long as I would stop drawing on the rest of the house. From then until now, art has been my number one resource of expression and entertainment. It has always been what I’m best at. I’ve been a musician, an athlete, and I’ve worked corporate, but every path leads me back to the canvas. Today, I’m creating art full time and it’s my hope that my art will find the right viewer at the right time to assist them through what they may be experiencing now or in the future.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I consider myself an Intuitive Artist, meaning I receive messages clairvoyantly, or within my minds eye. These images and messages reveal themselves in dreams, while listening to music, or during someone speaking. I have a sketch book that I keep with me so I can sketch down visions that I receive throughout the day or night. I receive messages from God/the Universe in order to assist in the healing of this world and it’s my intention that my art helps it’s viewers find peace, happiness and freedom. To create, I follow my intuition and whether I understand it or not it’s my mission to show what needs to be Known. At times, my art is dark and colorless, and at others it’s wild and full of every color possible; it all depends on what my soul is calling me to create. Many creators have a specific look or theme to their art but knowing that my inspiration comes from the Universe I understand that my style will evolve with what this world needs. Following my intuition has proven to be the key to my success because the moment I try to operate from a worldly place, I stumble and fail.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Born and raised in DFW, it’s hard to pinpoint my favorite spots. But somewhere I love to visit that I never get tired of is Deep Ellum because there is a wide range of events and places to visit any time of year for any mood. They have an artistic outlet for every type of artist from coffee shops to pizzerias, pie shops and festivals with live music always available! I love Deep Ellum Art Company specifically because it offers many of these things to do and see in one spot. They have live music, an art museum as well as art for sale, food, drinks and much more. I love walking around and meeting other artists from my area and viewing the murals that have been painted on the local shop walls. It’s my dream to paint one of those murals one day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is no doubt that my number one fan and role model from day one has been my mother. As an artist herself, she saw what potential I held from a young age and encouraged me every step of the way. No matter what creation I presented to her, she always praised me for it and even give me pointers here and there from what she learned in art school. Her encouraging words echo in my mind today, and during my darkest times I can still hear her loving voice encouraging me to keep going, to move forward, and to not listen to those who have something negative to say. I have always strived to be as loving as her and I thank her so much for believing in me from the beginning. My mom is my rock.
