We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Safari Zakaria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a love for fashion and beauty and after deciding to step away from professional makeup artistry as a full time career path, I now had to figure out what I wanted to do with my life that I knew I would love and would want to do long term. After researching different career fields, I found that Interior Design is just what I was looking for. I found that in a certain sense it blended my love for both fashion and beauty and I knew it was the career for me.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a novice in every sense when it comes to Interior Design but I’m excited to learn. I’m excited to design with depth and precision but especially excited to aid in bringing my client’s vision to life— that’ll be the best feeling.
However, because I have very limited experience in Interior Design, I can’t speak too much to this new career pursuit of mine. But one thing I learned from my business as a Makeup Artist was the importance of identity, worth, and value and where it is I place them. I placed too much emphasis on whether I was good enough as an MUA based on my likes, my followers, creativity, etc, and because I felt as though I was lacking in those areas that I wasn’t good enough to be an MUA, let alone keeping up with everyone else and it took a toll on my confidence, which hindered my business. I wasn’t posting as consistently and for a time took a break from it because I dreaded doing makeup— all because my worth was found in my career. I’ve learned that the only person I look should look to for validation is Christ. He gave me a new identity when I gave my life to Him and it is in Him that I find my identity, worth, and value, I don’t need to look anywhere else. It’s possible to love what you do and not be defined by it and in hindsight wasn’t something I fully understood but I’m thankful that I do now.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All the Glory goes to God. My success, big or small, is nothing without Him. He’s always been so faithful and gracious and always providing for me and I am eternally grateful. Whatever the future holds for my business, I hope that I can steward well this gift He’s given me and can ultimately glorify Him and point everything back to Him because He deserves all the glory, not me.
I’d like to thank my family and friends for always, always, always being supportive, encouraging, and loving. Having people in your life who genuinely care about you and that are always ready and willing to lend a helping hand in any way that they can is truly such a blessing and something I never want to take for granted. They’re the best and I love them.
