We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Ryan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run SarahRyanFit, a personal training fitness brand that offers in-person training and online coaching options. It is dedicated to delivering skillfully designed training programs and coaching to promote more sustainable, healthy lifestyles and empower stronger individuals. I started out being a personal trainer in a commercial gym alongside building my online coaching business in an attempt to be able to reach a larger audience and be more inclusive of clients that couldn’t train with me in person. After a few months in a commercial gym, I took a leap of faith and moved to Dallas to pursue my own independent training career out of a private performance center. Building a clientele in a new city is hard enough, and then throw in the fact that as your own new boss now you are also worrying about the admin procedures that are handled for you behind the scenes in a commercial setting. It was so overwhelming at first to juggle everything from business procedures to logistics to actual training hours all on my own. I had to prioritize figuring out how to make my business run smooth enough to create a strong foundation to build on. It was very discouraging working for months at a time with only a few clients and learning from mistake after mistake on how to run a smooth service but with consistency, my clientele and business grew overtime. I’m very excited for the full training schedule I run on top of the online clients I manage. I am most proud of the importance I have placed on my training and coaching being a true reflection of my personal approach to fitness and an overall healthy lifestyle. I am committed to tailoring each clients experience with me in a way that meets them exactly where they are; fitness will never be a one size fits all and I believe my clients feel that when working with me. My belief and procedures don’t always align with what is popular and trending but thats exactly how I want it; I never want my impact to be jaded by what is popular or by what might “sell better.” My authenticity is of upmost importance because I believe it helps my impact to be truer to who I am. I hope to continuously use fitness to empower those around me to build the best version of themselves so that they can wake up everyday feeling confident and radiant. What a beautiful world that would be.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite areas in the city to explore are probably Bishop Arts, The Farmers Market, and Lower Greenville. For a fun dinner dining experience with high energy, I would take my friend to either Te Deseo or Tulum. I love Mexican food and the energy is so eccentric in those places. Anywhere I can go with a fun outdoor experience will always be a win in my book so I might take them to explore White Rock Lake, walk Katy Trail or take bikes around the city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a lot of people who have had a huge impact on me and my journey towards growing my business and career. First and foremost, my family has always been extremely supportive. From my sister recording my fitness content whenever I need and being my first ever client, to my Dad encouraging me to always follow my passion, to my Mom and brothers who believed in me no matter what. Second, my closest friends have always gone above and beyond to promote and support me any chance they get, which goes a long way in starting your first business. Finally, the gym I currently work at, SandersFit Performance Center, has been a haven of unwavering support and assistance from everyone. I wouldn’t be who I am today or where I am at today without the incredible support of all these groups of people.
